Hey,

I have a 600w hps lamp that I am planning on using for my grow coming up soon, and i'm wondering.

Will the 600w hps lamp work for the vegging and flowering stages of growth?

Thanks,
Mokie :joint:

Yes, you can us it for both however a metal halide light would serve you better as it has a better color spectrum of light for the vegetative state and then use the HPS for flowering cycle. I use flourescents for veg and that has been working well for me. The growth is a little slower but the results have been great.

Intresting..

Also, the replacement bulb I bought said this:

These Grolux lamps are for plant growth.
The most well known dual spectrum lamp on the market is made by Sylvania
They are basically a standard sodium with a small amount of blue light included in the spectrum to make the spectrum more suitable for plant growth.
(The best dual spectrum lamp on the market)

Does that mean they are made for both stages?

Whats the difference between hps and metal halide??? Do they both run off the same ballast??? are they just a matter of switching globes or is it a completely different set up?
I been using my Hps for veg and flowering for years now and never really gave it much thought... Maybe i could increase my results!? What effect would it have on the final product?

well i have no experience with mh but from what ive learned and read, vegging with HPS AND MH is awesome. i dont know if u need a new ballast for a mh but MH alone is also awesome for veg. it would increase ur yield if u went MH for veg whether u added it to ur HPS or replaced ur hps with it. but like i said not speaking from experience

a separate ballast is needed for mh or hps. Or you can get a dual ballast and switch between the two.

Definately go for it. You will have no problems at all. My next grow will be a 12/12 room with one hps. This way you can have seedlings and flowering plants in the same room, so you always have a constant supply. It's called "12/12 from seed". Great for personal.
