hello yall,:blsmoke:

I recently added an enclosed Sun Systems lamp enclosure with a 500 cfm blower.

I am wondering about how far my bulb can be from my plants with this bulb housing, can I be closer than 22 inches? My temp is normally around 78 at the very top of the plants.

you should be able to get the light to within 6", if your hand can comfortably stay under the light at that distance your plants will be ok

right - but you;re supposed to measure the temp in the shade anyway so its not going to be too hot if your hand can stand the radiant heat.

thanks !!! thats perfect, so as long as its not to hot, right?

Mate u will burn ur plants if u keep ur 600w light 6inches from the top of them, unless u have ur fan blowing onto the heatsource directly. In doing this you are going to cause ur plants to lose moisture(transpiration)very quickly because of the constant wind being blown over them becuase of the fan being constantly on. i personally would keep my light NO LESS THAN 12-18 above my plant,,but hey thats just me;-)

hope this helped in anyway:-D

yo, "a 500 cfm blower" pulls the air through a light housing, thus enabling one to not burn the plants from radiant heat, i believe. ;-)

a 500 cfm blower will clear a 1200 sqft room/apt. of all its air in 1 min, impressive huh?

you're right about the cooling but your math sucks the big one ;-) - 1200 ssq ft room with 7 ft celings is 8400 cubic feet and it would take 17 minutes for your fan to clear the room.

where;s a geeky engineer when you need one??

I keep my plants about 6-8" away from the glass with @ 600w HPS. I use a 740cfm intake with a Y to blow through the hood and out the room plus blow cool air into the room. I also keep a fan blowing over the top of plants 24/7 to help keep from burning. Have had no probs with burning buds!

ok, i looked on the blower box and it says it moves 500 cubic feet of air a minute, and will "refresh" 1200 sq ft and I have to say that since installing the bulb enclosure and the blower, our temps have dropped by 8 degrees at least, and the bulb is is able to penetrate the canopy so good !!!

we flower in a 4 x7 walk in closet and temps have been a battle, but no more :bigjoint:

A square foot and a cubic foot are the same thing. So it would take about 2 1/2 minutes to clear 1200 square feet with a 500cfm exhaust fan. A 1200 square foot room includes all dimensions including height.

your fan is big enough, we were just giving you shit about the clearing the room statement. there is so much misinformation re ventilation on this site that i try and stomp on it when i see it. no worries and good growing.

sweet, I use a tower blower to move air into the room, a rotating fan above the plants in the room, and of course the 500 cfm blower to cool the bulb and it all works great !!!

last harvest was really good and I didnt have the housing nor the blower.

this one is going to go off !!!

a 1200 sq ft room can be 34ft x 34 with 7 ft ceilings = 8400 cubic ft

a square ft is not the same thing as a cubic ft. it is a square ft

which on further reflection means the room is probably 13 x 13 ft with 7 ft ceiling and will clear a 1200 cubic ft room in 2.5 minutes

my wife, who bought the fan, was giving me a lesson on sq foot and cubic foot.

i totally get it .. thanks for all the help, honestly.

where should my temps be too get a good purple kush color coming out? Bellow 78 degrees?

I have Purple Kush and Sour Blackberry Kush, last harvest at 85 degree average didnt show a whole lot of purples
