600w hps or daylight

i have a grow out in my shed in the uk. RP og kush. 1 week into flowering. I have a 600w hps on 12/12 that generates alot of heat so it is about 11 inches from top of plant. anyways sometimes in the early afternoon the sun shines in directly on my garden. Could I replace the hps with sunlight for a few hours just to save on electric?

I dont see why not. I would give them transision time. By that i mean don't turn the hps off until they were in full sunlight type thing because the plant could misunderstand the 2 sunrise\sundowns caused by the transisions. But im high sitting on the toiet waking n baking with my playbook, point is i could be crazy. :)

sure, this would work as long as you are careful to turn on the light when the sun stops shining on the plants. you wouldn't want to stress the plant by having it go dark in there then light coming on again interrupting the dark cycle. personally i would just leave the light on to be on the safe side, 600 watts is not a whole lot of expense per month...

wait.................. ur running ur hps 12-12 thru the day?Y?

electric runs cheaper in uk from 8pm till 8am? why would u be running it thru the day,, also you would save on temp issues running thru the night too?

How often do you reckon you will get these few hours of sunlight? Surely not enough to justify switchin off your light! Remember we are in the UK bro! Could be black skies with snow tomorrow!

i am also in the UK, i would never ever ever ever, move my plants into my garden for sunlight, IMO it doesnt compare to my 600watt HPS light, my plants have their nice cosy grow room to relax in all day and night, i wouldnt put them outside for shit, especially in the UK, us UK guys no that the weather changes its mind at all times, so having it outside for 2 days when the weather is good, then putting it back inside for the next week whilst the weather is shit will just confuse your plants. Just think, when your in your grow room, do you find it a bit of a challenge to see due to how bright your HPS is? because i do. but when you walk outside in the UK on an average day, do you find it a challenge to see due to brightness? because i dont. just my opinion though i guess. Happy growing anywayss. GW

electric is only cheaper at night if on economy 7 tarriff which i'm not. However i'm currently keeping the plants in darkness for 24 hours to change the light cycle due to temperature issues. last night was down to about 8 degrees C so i'm hoping the damage isn't already done!
