65 gal vs 100 gal in the ground

Hey there, Ladies n Gents :)

I'm going to put all of my focus on an outdoor guerilla crop this year instead of indoor. I've done outdoor before but nothing major before this year and I'd like some advice from ya'll who've done this before.

My goal is 10lbs dry. To achieve or surpass that goal, would it be better to plant 5 65s or 3 100s in the ground? Since I live along 26N I also plan on running 100% sativas, probably Ace's Panama Red and Golden Tiger. Any strain suggestions as well? Anything I need to add or remove from the native sand here?

Help is greatly appreciated ya'll!

How is native soil? Are you in a flash flood area? I would go with smart pots if ground is crapppy. I would plant more than 5 to ensure your 10 pound goal. I also wouldnt pick a 15ft lanky sativa for guerilla growing. Just my 2 cents, Ive never been or grown at 26N :)

took me 10 plants to get 13 lbs dried....and I started in Jan. indoor then transplanted in the ground first of June...IMHO i would go with 65 gal...
Id recommend Midnight Kush..but its an Indica dominant..i did manage 2 1/2 lbs off that one plant tho

It's South Florida so we don't really have soil, we have sand. No flash flood area but I will be bringing them water every few days during the hot summer.

What strain would you recommend that won't mold easily? It's very, very hot and humid in the summer. What size smart pots would you go for 10lbs?

Just read up on the MK and it sounds like a very nice smoke. I wanted to get a head start indoors this year but I won't be able to this year plus indicas tend to flower immediately down here (our days never go past 14 hours of sunlight) so that may not be a good choice for an all season grow down here. What other strains did you run?

it's not going to matter so much on the pot size if your growing style and ganja strain can not take advantage of all the space. whether you choose 65 or 100s you going to need constant care and really healthy plants to get your ten from 3 plants. while this is done by people easily they are people that have good control, daily care and have experience. and also most getting the huge numbers from plants are able to tend to them in an easy manner, not guerrilla style. i don't wish to discourage you only let you know you must be prepared. with a lot of work it can be done. make certain nobody ever knows and they are hidden well.

you ask what you should do to your sand, what i would do is toss the sand and by premium soil. with sand you would have to amend it but it. you would have to add 2/3 loamy soil and organic material such as compost and worm castings for good results. if i had to choose i would do the 65s and plant a few more and also like stated above go for a less than full lanky sativa for a guerrilla grow. something with a mix of both indica/sativa know for producing.

with large plant you are going to have to water, maybe a lot if you are getting no rain at times. make sure you are prepared for this watering 65 gal containers will take a lot if you are forced to haul it. never let them dry to the point of wilting and your going to need to learn basic training methods to improve yield and also if done right will hide the profile of the plant when seen from a distance.

good luck keep us posted on your progress.

to keep down on the mold besides buying a strain that says mold resistant plant in an area with good morning sun and a good breeze. top the plant for many smaller heads rather than one large dominant cola. then train them apart to increase airflow. this should help considerably.

toss some Mexican seeds in the ground this summer. they will grow 15ft. in my area they will not finish but when younger i had many 15ft sativas from Mexican brick weed. also they never produced anything but airy bud that needed another 4-5 weeks to finish but they were tall. and not impressive but that is in part due to my environment, 500 miles south and things may have been different.

Thanks!

So it is okay to plant in sand, just loosen it up a bit with organic matter? I was going to go all out and do Tom Hill's soil recipe for all of the plots excluding the extras I will plant for more 'insurance' purposes.

Me myself I would suggest more smaller pots and go for the gold!!!.... The Cheese Quattro was damn good...almost like a sweet cinammon bun.

I have done pots in ground and out. Definitely better yield in ground, but i understand thats not an option. I recommend using the 65's, doubling your quantity 5->10, and use water crystals in your pots.

I get better yields in smart pots......Not everyone's ground is the same....I have hard, rocky, clay. No drainage.

I'm not going to be using pots as I will be planting directly into the ground. Either 65 gallon holes or 100 gallons although I think I'll go with the 65s. 7 or 8 should do it.
