I'm starting some new seeds today in a humidity dome purchased from HTG supply. Just wondering if anybody has any experience with it and if I should leave the vents open/half open/closed.

I've got 8 26 watt 6500K cfl's sitting right above the dome with vents half open and a fan circulating the air in my closet.

I'm just looking for some good advice from anybody that has experience using humidity domes.

Peace.

I have used them for years for cloning. As you are growing form seed, I would keep the vents closed until the plant breaks soil, then open them half way until transplant time..

have the vents open with seedlings i persanaly do not think a humidity dome is needed for seeds at all but when it come's to clones it is a differant kettel of fish there invaluble.Germanate the seeds between a few squares of kitchen roll then put them into a bag a sealer bag is the best i have found once the tail shows plant them into the grow medium about 5 mm below the surface and they will show them selfs within a a day or two.Keep one the seeds that you are doing now has a mother and then use the propagator for cloneing mist two times a day for the 1st week and mist the inside of the lid keep vents closed for 1st two days then after that open them and still mist two time a day but the start of week two mist just the once with the vents still open and you will have the genetics for has long has you want them.................................tyke...........................................................

Thank you for your answers. I usually germinate and just pop them in the ground. I also use a bubble cloner for my clones but I wanted to give this a shot and see if it works any better. Although I have no complaints about my bubble cloner. Anyway I don't have anything to clone just yet and I want to give this humidity dome a try for seedlings. You know how guys are with there new toys. :hump:
