70 watt MH

im thinkin of using 2 small MH lights as side lighting for my next grow these look like theyd screw into a standard light socket is it still the same as other HID bulbs in terms of gfrowing power

and would this still need a ballast im thinkin it would?

its probably a mogul base... and yep if its a real MH it needs to go in a fixture with a ballast. but if i'm wrong- ima be lookin for those too!

No you guys are both right, there is an electrician that has a feed here and I asked him the other day, they fit into a reg socket but need to be sparked and run on a ballast as they run a at different frequecy than regular lights.....heres a great tip though, home depot has security lights for $85which are 100 watt HPS's with ballast and all .....here's the link

No man all the real ones do as they need a special ignition and frequency of power to function......you other options are CFL (but not that great to flower with) LED ( never tried but heard the same as CFL's) and there's a new type of light on the market called EDFL's here are some links if you wanna check em out,,, out hydro shop just got one in and is testing it but their supposed to be the shit !!!!

Those EDFLs look interesting ill havta check them out a bit more. im looking for somthing better than cfls i use a 400w but i wanna add some mh when i flower next grow i might even just break down and buy a 150w mh for each side

yo why dont you just use HPS for flower.. and use CFLs for veg. im doing it right now i had one harvest with the HPS i got about 3 zips off 2 plants.. youll love it dude.get a 400W hps with a cooltube itll cost ya about $200 but totally worth it. .

oh and ps you can get a package deal from HTGsupply for a 400W hps/MH bulb ballast, your type of reflector, hangers, extra bulbs, ect. (you can click bubbles for what you want.) and you can choose the type of reflector you want, type of bulb. its pretty sick. ill give ya the link if oyu want. you can also get one for 250W or 1K...
