72 COBs & RDWC with a Twi$t

Sup Fam! Soon to be friends & collective enthusiast.
I am here to share my journey of the switch from Coco to RDWC & a complete over haul of my growroom.
It all started with ( 4 COB CXB3590 3500k configuration @ 2.1ma, some Coco & Jacks 321.

Lets take a trip back in time to my second grow ever last year:

Originally used the 4.86 heatsinks, i had the heatsinks anodized then the reflector rings powdercoated by a friend.


Originally the heatsinks were not separated so I painstakingly cut them with my portable bandsaw. *So much work! BUT this gave me the spread i was looking for (4ft total length)

After this we enter in what would be my second grow. My first was split between my and my girlfriend at the time. Needless to say I wanted to experiment & she didnt. So we split the space and I acquired some Critical Kush, Blue dream, Sour D & Mean Green Martian.
I only have pics of the CK as they were my pride and joy =)
Started from clone with LST
10 CK spread over a 4x8 w/ 5 lights


In the back here are the 5 Bluedream/SD under 1kw HPS
Lady bug taking care of any Aphids that may have migrated from the BD to the CK.

*Note there will be 2 lights in the center instead of 1


This is a 3 light 3 plant diagram
The outer edges will be each plants canopy space in ft
Four corners ran @ 2.1ma
Middle ran @ 1.05ma

Here are the lights that will be on the outside of the plants (12 will be added to the middle):

Very very nice. Def subbed up. Lookn at your light setup I think has finally made me want to switch to cobs. I love that light setup. If you don't mind me asking. How much you got in your light setup far. Gotta be over a grand if not more.

I mean you can do it for cheaper. Been buying lights for 2 yrs and they were more expensive a yr ago. Plus I'm running all cree cxb3590's which is the more expensive route, there is other alternatives. Can't beat COBS period imo

Yeah i. Using leds right now. And I have over 120watts per sq/ft. But they don't make the weight like hps. But I have close local friend that just swapped to cobs. I have a cob light I veg with. 310 watts at the wall. But it's 5000 or 5500k. So I don't think they would be good to flower with. But it rocks the veg. It's an actual street light. It uses the housing as cooling. It has giant fins on the back. I vegged 2 plants on my previous grow with it. And I ended up getting grown out of 2x4x6.5 tent. One topped for four colas. The other mainlined.

I ran 46w per sq/ft last run and had great results for the strain and the pain those ladies went thru.
Got right at .88g per watt.

What Cobs are you vegging with?
I"m using some cxa2530's 4.5k - 400w total
Just picked up some Photonfantomdesigns, 5k - Sun boards for cloning/veg.

Street light has MH bulb?

We used to grow indoors with street lights 25 years ago. I'm on a smaller scale now and times have changed. I'm running 2 QB304s up to 185w max ,love COB LED

No they are cree cobs. Here's a link to the exact light I have. Which I got it for the power supplies and cobs. I have 7 of them. All brand new. For free.

Have you compared your any cobs to your QB's?

Looks interesting, I wish they stated what cobs where in them but hey id care less if they're free, long as they were more efficient.

Normally id like to solder my connections but seeing as I have roughly 120 wires to extend, its far too time consuming and overkill. CRIMP CRIMP CRIMP

So I have not had a harvest since February. I started revamping my room after Feb. set up a grow at a now Ex's houses in April only to have her kill 14 beautiful vegged out females in week 6 of flower.
Money hasnt been the best since and the cost of going Hydro along with the room revamp hasnt left much drive to get started again. Especially since im stubborn and dont like to cut corners.
SOooooo i figured id do a run of Coco again while i finish the rooms and hydro system.

125w CFL light is a lil much for them atm but roots are taking off.


Next to them I have some RG Gear #357 Colorado Thunder Fuck (CTF)
& (2) Random seeds found in trim lol

Nice fabrication work !

I have not " QBs are COBs" I had a small stint with a blurple light trying to get away from HID. I was very close to doing a 1212 setup and then Robin "now HLG" released the QB304s. I knew in a tent setup exactly what they were and was one of the first to jump on them. My current grow at going on 4 weeks has costed me a wopping $5 in light energy cost. COB LED are the way to go whether QB or traditional COB.
