7ft indoor plant

Using the finger can encourage over watering and damage roots in the process.
Moisture evaporates from the top of the soil. It will feel dryer because of it without giving you a sense of overall dampness level.

Fingering the drainage hole would be wiser or simply judging the weight by lifting it slightly. ( be mindfull of snapping branches when you lift pot)

my idea to fix this: its probably stupid.

to fix this you will need

a kidde pool about 2ft deep

2 patio chairs that lay down.

some soil, or whatever you are using.

you will fill the kiddle pool with water up to a foot, lay the plant down pot sideways on the wall of the pool: lay the rest of the plant on the patio chairs in they laying position.

so now you water the kiddie pool. the roots will start moving in to the pool, you start adding dirt as the roots climb out of the pot.

...now you just need 7ft of lighting =x

you know that plant is going to grow another 3/4 to 1/2 its total size once you flower right. I hope you have 5 more feet of head space
