8 weeks flower, couple of questions - first grow

Hello everyone!

I've been a long time reader and have collected almost all of my information for growing from this site. It's absolutely great!

Now that I've gotten that out, I now need some advice. I have two major concerns/questions. First off I'm growing White widow and a few random seeds that were freebies with the order . Anyway, the random seeds seem to be at least a couple of weeks behind my 1 and only female WW. However, shes doing great for my first grow. It's been just over 8 weeks (past Sunday) and the hairs are still very white and it isn't producing as much crystal as I've seen in a lot of pictures/forums/grow journals. I'm not that worried I just figure its a little behind as I have made several mistakes over the past months Anyway, on to the questions...

First, my house reeks like growing weed. I love it, but you can see my problem. The box I'm growing in is 2x2x4' with a 90 CFM fan. I built a slightly larger version of the DIY carbon scrubber that someone posted using two metal mesh cups (don't have link sorry, I'll try and get it later) however once flowering started it just didn't have the masking ability I was hoping for. Last night I tried using PVC pipe filled with carbon but the fan doesn't have the juice, the box temps just constantly rose, not to mention the fan almost burning out, heh. It's a bathroom ceiling fan btw.
I'm looking for a cheap way to fix the problem. I should only have a few more weeks flowering so I don't want to spent to much, its just the smell is making me very paranoid.

Second, my plants are retardedly tall for the box hah. I had to veg a little longer, due to stupidity and was trying to fix a mistake i made. The fact I really underestimated how much more they'd grow in flower didn't help either. I have been tying the tips down as much as possible but I I'm fighting a losing battle, any suggestions would be great.

Howzit ,my sugestion to killing the smell is to just buy a carbon filter from grow shop i looked in to making one but buying 1 seemed much esier and not that much more expensive i have no smell wats so ever since i invested in one. you my need to get a more powerful fan as the filter reduces the pulling pomer of the fan. As for the length getn outa hand someone suggested to squezz and crush the tips as well as the stem but dont go lower then 1/3 of the hieght of the plant.

if your plant is toot all use the LST method or top it. if you smell bad use a goo dinline fana d some duct work and move that smell outside.

Yeah I'm thinking that's the only way around the smell to be honest, I just figured i' post to see what people had to say first. I'm just dreading spending the money
As for the pinching method, I used it in my later vegging, only heard about it when it was a little late. Can it still be used during flowering or will the cola's suffer from the stem having to repair itself?

As for the venting out side, well... that's the plan. However my only obstacle is the fact my dryer and the apartment upstairs are vented together. So if i just start blowing my stink through the vent it'll cause push back up to them. BTW the dryer duct is basically the only way to vent it outside atm. To cold for anything else.

I was also thinking about topping the plant but 8 weeks into flower seems a little late to be messing around with that no? Plus I'd hate to cut off any sweet, sticky bud

Also note that that huge amount of dryer venting is only temporary. That was the end result of last nights attempt at making another filter with a crappy inline fan to help. As you can imagine it didn't work.

Yea its bit late for crushing i would think as much of the stem and branch growing should pretty much slowed right down if not stoped all together by that stage, best i could sugest is do is do some tieing down

Heres some pic's of my columbian skies 4 1/2 weeks in to flowering as a sativa domanant plant it should normaly grow quite tall but to unsure it stays small how i like growing them i gave them a short veg time ,tiped them and put them in smallish baggs so they get get root bind which stops them geting bigger 2.

Oh that's a nice grow you have going there. If i had the room I would be all about it myself

The height problem seems to be a little under control. I realized that tying shoots in several places helps a lot haha. I'm not so scared of cracking off tips now

As for the smell, I think I'll just suck it up and hope for the best atm. Can't really afford to buy a good filter. Oh well
