Hey everyone! Today marks the 8th week in flowering for our babies :). We are soooo excited we have only 2-3 more weeks left hopefully if all goes well. During the last few weeks of flowering is when they really start to plump up. An advice or comments would be great! Enjoy our new pics. Thanx :)

Looks good, thanks for the pictures... what kind of light are you using?

We are using a 250 watt hydrofarm MH grow light from start to finish. We have a crappy CFL that we used on them as babies, and as soon as they were strong enough we put them under the MH. This is our first grow, so we were apprehensive about the budding production that we would get with MH. However, we have been pleasantly surprised, as we have extensive budding all over our babies, and the nugs are not have any problem getting dense and sugar glazed.

We read thoroughly about the differences between HPS and MH, before we decided to go with MH throughout the grow. We feel that we will gain more potency from flowering with our MH. Even though it may take a bit longer, and the HPS nugs would be slightly larger, we are growing this for personal smoke and we are all about potency. Most of all we did not feel that with the conversion bulb that is made for our MH system, that we would benefit much, as the conversion HPS bulb puts out about 26000 lumens, and our MH puts put 23000.

As for if our babies are sativa..........We are not positive. The babies were given to as clones. They are a Washington State Medical strain, but the name is unknown.
From what we have read, i have concluded that our plants are a indica/sativa mix. our guess was about 75/25. however, other things we have read have led us to believe it may be a pure indica. In that case, we are going to harvest it at a late point in its life stage so as to produce a heavy sedative stoned. Mostly for chronic nauseas sake.

We did buy a Trich scope, and they are ALL clear right now, so we feel as though we have a ways to go.

Nope but you got sum sick as bud porn there. Nice Grow!!! I got a question though. You said the HPS put out more lumens than the MH so why didnt you get the conversion bulb and use the HPS during flower and the MH during veg?

The conversion bulb from MH to HPS is harder to find than the HPS to MH. Especially in the lowest watt category. So the bulb for conversion was $115. Based on the hefty pricetag, and the minimal 3 thousand lumen gain, we judged that it wouldnt be worth the money. Also, temperature is an issue in our room, and we do not have 6-10 degrees to spare for the HPS's heat. :joint::joint: It sucks, because in order to make the MH to HPS conversion bulb, you must sacrifice wattage.

That means when you buy a HPS conversion bulb for a 250 watt Mh system, the bulb is 220 watts. Which is why it only puts out 3 thousand more lumens than the MH. If in fact the HPS stayed at 250 watts, its gain would be much more beneficial.

Why is it so hard to get people to reply? I reply to everyones forums with my helpful opinions on what they could do with their projects. I don't understand why it is like pulling teeth to get a decent number of replies when people talk about random crap and get 150 replies.
This is supposed to be General Marijuana Growing. Can I please PLEASE get some input, advice, negative feelings, anything? As a first time grower, its pretty tough to know what to expect. All of you who have been through this know that. Anything you all would like to say, is very appreciated:peace::joint:

Cool, your in connecticut. My family is from hartford. Now I understand why your growing indoors. Anyways no, I havent grown anything yet. Just getting some knowledge first. Those are nice plants you have there. Good research on the MH bulb as well, Ill definately take that into consideration. Keep up the good work.

Thanks. Not exactly ideal conditions for outdoor grows lol. But indoor how has so much potential and you can control everything!!! Ya we did exstensive research on MH bulbs because we had originally wanted to purchase a HPS.But found that MH was actually worth it much more. Also our local hydro shop was advertising how well Ceramic Metal Halides work. How many grows have you done?

Just a thought and I understand price can be the ultimate deciding factor but I would think that even though you gain only 3000 lumens with the HPS conversion bulb with that bulb you also get the spectrum of light that is more benificial to the flowering plant. So lumens are not the only thing to consider. Just my 2 cents. Peace

how many plants? do you have a tent or mylar reflectin for it? what is it's grow sq footage? how long did you veg? what did you do about heat from the 250w? did you top the plant? how much do you think your gana get from it at this point (please try to imagine if it were all dried and the volume it takes up (if your a visual person) and then guess on how much it weighs. but i don't know how many plants there are so i can't look at it and guess. some of those bud sites look like a good 1/8 to a 1/4 to me.

sorry just wondering on my first grow and yours looks superb so i thought i would ask.

oh and just wondering did you make clones of this so you can grow it again?

i think i am going to clone as much as possible. but i think there are rules on cloning clones. you can only do it so many times before you get some uncalculated result i think? not sure?

Thanks for the comments man, we have worked really hard on our plants. The colas are forming bigger everyday and crystalizes a lot. We have 3 plants, two in an Earthbox and one (our biggest) in a 5 gallon bucket. We are growing in one of our closets and the walls are alread white so we didn't need to use any thing for reflection. We did look into the grow tents but deceided on using a closet or two. Amazingly one of our closets has vents on the top and bottom it is set up PERFECTLY for growing :). Our grow space is fairly small about 4ft x 5ft x 6ft. We vegged for about a month. We have one big oscilating ionizing fan, a humidifier, a home made co2 machine, and a desk fan that blows right at the bottom of the light. The desk fan has helped a lot to move the heat from directly under the light so that our babies don't get heat stress. We haven't had to worry about ANY heat problems until flowering :(! We had always kept a constant 75.6- 76.0, now that they have been in flowering for 8 weeks and not to mention 80- 85 degree weather they are staying around 81.3 degrees. If we would have used HPS for flowering it would have been MUCH hotter, but we perfer the MH. Yes, we topped all three plants and they did well. We are going to top earlier next time tho. We are expecting about 3-4 oz if we get anything less we will be slightly dissapointed. An experienced friend told us to expect a quater pound easy.

We actually decided not to clone because when we were vegging we didn't want to take any possible energy away from them or decrease any possible yield. Then about a few weeks into flowering we actually were like FUCK we really should have taken clones because it is a medical strain from Washigton and basically straight up fire! But we all know it is a bad idea to clone during flowering plus it takes the clones longer to revert back if they are taken from flowering. We bought some THC Bomb seeds and got some free Mazar/Afgahn and will start germing soon!!!

You can clone as much as you want from a healthy plant but eventually if your taking them from a mother plant even if you keep it really healthy it probably will last maximum one year. Cloning is much easier than starting from seed tho for sure :).

Bump! Any advice? comments? We are thinking about 2-3 more weeks as info at beginning says but since the strain is unknown we have no actual specific amount of time. Anyone have a good guess at how much longer to give them? Thank you

check the trichs dude. get a magnifying glass (highest magnification) or a small handheld microscope. look at the buds and see if the trichs are amber or cloudy or clear.

if trichs are clear do not even think about cutting it down. you get the most thc if you wait for the trichs to tell you when to kill the plant. you want to kill when the trichs are about 60-75% amber and the rest cloudy. trichs look like upside down falling watter drops still connected to the spout. so kind of like a nipple on the end of a hair.
