Various, tape, thermal paste, zip ties and wire connecters...ect.

Space Coverage Im using it for: 4x2 tent.

COB Specs:



My light specs:

65,600 Lumen
About 400 Watts
390 (dissipation W) * .5167 (COB efficiency) = 202 PAR W
202 PAR W/8 ft² = 25 PAR W/ft²
25 * 10.7 (ft² in 1 m²) = 267.5 PAR W/m²
267.5 * 4.88 (umol/PAR W for CXA 3000K) = 1305 PPFD. (minus small % for lateral and upward scatter)
The light only gets slightly warm. Cooler than the top of a fridge.
Runs on 110 or 220 (I use 220)

The Pics:

The four center lights are on a different driver and dimmer. The 4 outer ones are also on their own. It keeps me from having to use the whole light to get one plant going. I can turn the outers up when it spreads out. Or just dim both sets down for vegging a whole area. There are quick disconnects going to the cobs so I can remove the fan and drivers from the top as a separate unit for maintenance. This is also why I dont have holes drilled into the frame for the dimmers.

Well thought out and beautifully executed light!

I'm in my first run with my 400w 8 Cree DIY light in a 2x4 tent. Mine is for veg and flower, so I mixed up some 3000/4000/5000k COBs. I'm not sure I'll run all 400 watts all the way through. Mine also has separate drivers and I started with just 200 but have them all running at the moment.

How many plants are you running in the 2x4? "each plant in their own tent" sounds like you are running just one?

Yes. One plant per 2x4 tent. I have a few tents thou. One tent vegs for 2 months while one flowers. A new cut gets taken from veg tent 2 weeks before flower to start over each time. I only kick the power up to full when the buds begin to set in.

Very interesting. Perpetuals are elegant solutions. I've found that my house does not support an indoor very well in the summer, even running the lights on at night. I suppose if I was really organized I could switch to an outdoor with the same plants, and then time it to bring clones back in for the fall run. I'm not that organized, yet.

I've got two plants in my 2x4, I'm planning on vegging them for 7 or 8 weeks depending on how they look. I'm still learning about my light, I was running it with all 8 but keeping it relatively high. It's a lot of heat, so I just shut off the (2) 5000k and dropped it a couple of inches. My initial intention was to run 6 @300w for flower, and keep them closer as the buds filled out. I'm in the early part of the learning curve with COBs, still playing with watts and distances.
