900 watts cfl, compared to 1000 watt hps

will two floursent be enough light to grow 6 to 8 plants for vegging then switch to 400 watt hps for flowering?

i dont know man i use one 53w CFL (150w equiv) to grow one plant, and i have beatuiful results from a plant that is just from a good strain of mids
you said "a" plant. dude come on get a 400hp and let 12 plants get a tan
and for sure use your 400hps for veg and bud stage if all you have is crappy cfls around
unless you have a sick cfl like 200 real watts or better, not no equivalent bullshit. or a MH400 you need those blues

yea i agree completely, get atleast that nice 400watt hps if you wanna do it right. use the fluorescents for clones and seedlings.

Yes I agree with crazy. I have done the inddor using nothing but cfl's and although you can indeed get great results they are really a pain in the butt. You have to constantly be moving them because they require such closeness compared to the other type of lighting.
I'm not apposed to cfl's at all but for doing more than a few plants I agree that you are better off going for a different lighting system.

that's some good result for growing under 1 CFL.
the way i look at it. the real person issues with cfls are. fire is my main concern. now in theory, if i have 10 lights plugged in, at 10 watts, or 1 at 100 watts, i think the higher number of plugs, cables, and just plain statistics should say its more dangerous, so instead of 1 risk, you have 10 risks. 10 cables to worry about plugging, splicing, moving, touching things and burning, falling breaking. and then theres the more technical theory of lights loose energy. the loss of energy i think would be higher due to the 10 different circuits. i mean that could be nothing, maybe theory, but this is 2 reasons on top of the other 100 to get hps.
