911 plz help. 6 ft plant drooping for 4 days and plant next to it is fine.

hey guys.

i have a monster plant in its first week of flower.
and shes drooping something serious.

i fed her saturday full strength nutes for the early flowering stage of the plant.
gave it 3 gallons which in a 40 gallon container would certainly not be called overwatering
which i know can have side effects of drooping leaves. so today i gave it 3 gallons pure water
thinking maybe its under watering. but ive been giving it a gallon or 2 every other day all season and its been
fine so i dont think its the watering. and its a healthy color.


my next question would be does anything have experience with this size container? i thought
100% sure that this plant would go to harvest in this container but im thinking the roots are
possibly bound @ the bottom of the container? i was feeeling the dirt today to see how wet it was
and i grabbed a rope like root. so i through 5 more gallons of dirt on top b4 throwing the 3 gallons on there.

any suggestions guys? really dont wanna lose this lady. 8 more weeks and shell be a beautiful yeilder.

added 3 pics. one of the root nice and strong this is pre adding 5 gallons.
and a pre pic of it when it was perky. this was last week. and if you can see
in the perky pic, that is has a neighboring plant. and that one i saw today is
stretching out to the sun like it should be so idk the deal.

guess that other pic it wasnt crazy perky. so its been drooping for like a week lol. but as u can see its neighbors doing fine.

It could be catching root rot or it's to hot out side. My suggestion would be cut the bottom out, cut the sides with long slits and burry the bucket. How hot is it at your 20 ? Don't wait ! I would all so be flooding that bucket with the hose until I see run off in that size of pot. They drink more than 2-3 gallons. Do you see run off when you water ? I feed my 10 gallon pots more than you water that 40 gallon pot.

How light is the pot when you lift it before watering?

Could it possibly be over watered?

lol i dont lift it b4 watering. the bitch is 300 lbs easy.
and ya thats how ive been transplanting my other ladies.
im gonna do it as soon as i have the man power.
ill slice it open and transplant and water it like 10 gallons lol

and nah man the heat cannot be it. we had 100 degree + earlier in the yr. and no problems.
its been 70s 80 degrees here. nothing crazy. and no no run off. i figured i would over water even
attempting to get run off lol.

man i hope i can get some pictures when i have her pot slit open. the roots should be NUTSS.

but shes always been good with the 2 gallons every other day. why have an issue now?

Tell me though, Do you see run off when you water that bucket ? I need to know .

I'll bet a doobie if you put the hose on her until you see run off she'll perk up. You always water until you see run off, let her dry out and do the same again, Always run off.

As they go into flowering and the root system fills that bucket she needs more water. They drink the heck out of water in the first 5 weeks of flower.

You could tell me if I'm right right now by putting your finger in a drain hole our take a plug out of the bottom side of the bucket and see if the soil is wet. I bet it is dry as a bone. No way can 2 gallons of water wet and feed a 6ft plant in a 40 gal pot.

if i put like 5 holes in like the bottom foot of the pot will that be good to drain? i cant flip her. put holes in bottom and flip her back... without a crane lol

Does the pot she is in have drain holes? It should if it doesn't. I agree with tws, that's not enough water for a plant that big. I use 10 gal smart pots and I soak'em every other day with atleast 2-3 gal.

no it had a couple cracks in the bottom of it but if it drains from thos i cant see it. it would be into the ground. but i guess ill start doing like 10 gallons every 2-3 days?

Forget measuring or burying anything right now just go put the hose on low and water it until you see the ground get wet.

I agree more water will probably help. I do inside and with like 18 plants in hydro 2 gallon buckets in early flower Im going through almost 50 gallons of water a week.so thats what like 3 plus gallons a plant in 2 gallon buckets a week.Id dril cut hole in bottom or on sides as low as you can go like dime sized 10 or so then do as mention water til you see run off.

TWS is likely right. Probably not getting water down to the bottom of the pot.

What kind of holes are in that for drainage?
Do you see water coming out of all the holes when you water?

the black pots tent to take a lot of heat. not good for the roots but I don't now what the damage of that looks like because ive never had that issue

Thanks guys I went and checked it out cut some holes and it was dry. Gave it 8 gallons and water started coming out the bottom and by the time I left she perked up. Here's a pic pre watering.
I was surprised to see that the roots are visible at the bottom already so I guess I will have to be digging a big hole this weekend.so I think it's safe to say the problem was underwater in thanks guys
