No they are called chillers. These are way more efficient then a window unit. Its air to water look into it

I believe you're talking about Evaporative Cooling, aka Swamp Coolers. These work by raising humidity and really only work in arid environments.

Swamp coolers are great for personal relief. I have one in my living room. It doesn't actually lower the temperature though it just makes it "feel" cooler. In a grow you'd just end up with problems from humidity.

If you want no smell cooling, you can use a ductless Split-AC.

The same concept as a central AC where you have a fan inside and a compressor outside.

What this does is only have compressed coolant go out and in, your air stays 100% in the house (assuming your windows and/or room are sealed).

They're a bit pricier than portable units, but once you have it installed you can have regular AC guys service the compressor outside the house with no worry about them getting close to the grow.

Ok nevermind. Those people are just playing off a well marketted name. That one isn't an evaporative cooler. It requires a constantly flowing cold water source. So you then need a lake, water chiller, or waste your city water.

you can box your carbon filter in Rmax and make an inlet for your ac and from your tent. You will have to buy another fan but it will scrub the air before it goes outside. You can also use a closet or bathroom for this purpose.

Yea they certainly could be handy in the right situation. Whenever I get back to the country and have a well again I might look into. Not sure how efficient it would be though, the pump could possibly end up pulling more than an a/c on a deep wells.

I run a 3 fan chiller and it does a great job replaced my air conditioners on a 9kw grow. You better make sure you get FREE city water and your drains are 100% before you get one. They suck a shit load of water and add a fair amount of humidy to your room. Were I am im not on metered water and I have a 2" line coming into my house so I can run a chiller. If your drain backs up you will flood your house VERy fast.

Creek I've been considering something like this. Would you mind posting a pic or 2? Do you remember the initial cost for set up?

I have made a box frame and bought 2 extra filters that goes to my A/C, I added sheets of fabreez fabric softner between them and mounted it to the front the A/C, it seems to be working so far and I only have to unmount it to change out the sheets. The drain water is no problem since it is evaporating fast and is not dripping out so far, thanks to all the great ideas in this thread.
