A few questions on CFL rigs

1) Most timers are pretty strict on saying that they shouldn't be used with CFL's. I've heard that CFL's diminish quickly if you turn them off and on within 15 minutes a lot. Do most of you use timers anyway? Does it not impact them if you are leaving it on for hours at a time like recommended?

2) Is it possible to link up more than one CFL per plug? No i'm not in America where you have lots of chinese made socket-to-plug adapters, we just seem to have bulbs and cable here which sucks.

3) I can get a lot more T-5 bulbs for the price of 150w envirolites, are they more efficient?

1) I've never had a CFL burn out during a grow, I replace them post-grow, and I use a GE timer.

2) I've hooked up to 12 lights to one socket before. I'd imagine this isn't the limit, either.

3) 150w ELs are, imho, more efficient than T-5s based solely on reviews I've read and my own yield comparisons of other growers, so take that for what it is.

1) My CFL rig is 24/0 for at least a year now but I wouldn't worry about putting cfls on timers at all. Should be perfectly fine.

2) Yes, you can wire a couple dozen to a single extension cord without problems.

3) mmmm, if you've got the cash, by a nice t-5 rig. If cash is short, get a bunch of 26w cfls and wire them together. ...tutorial in my sig :)
