A long, hard, 10 week veg and now they are SO tall. Need advice before flipping.

I have 6 sativa dominant females that have been through hell and back. This was my first indoor grow, so while I was hoping for the best, I expected to run into problems. I've had Ca/Mg deficiency, mites, low humidity, and then burnt the crap out of them when I foliar sprayed the mites.

So rather than just scrap them, I decided to let them recover, take a bunch of clones, and then flip them over into flowering. They are pest/disease free now and ready to be flowered.

They are super tall now (3.5ft-4ft) and have been under only T5's there entire life. I have both 600 and 1000 HPS hoods but didn't have my room set up to accommodate the new lighting until recently.

They are in a UCDWC setup in 10 gallon totes. The plants aren't very sturdy at the moment (that is my next thread question). Once they start getting any weight on them, they are going to want to fall right over. I'm not sure if this is an important variable to know or not.

QUESTION:

They are super tall. Very healthy root system, very healthy top 1/4, but of course the T5 isn't penetrating to the lower branches very much at all.

Can I super crop or tie these down in order to stimulate some lower growth before they start to flower? I fimmed them, so I have several top colas on each plant but I'd love to see more if possible. Too tall to supercrop?

WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO INCREASE YIELD?

Yup... I'd tie those ladies down. It will help with light penetration and hopefully keep the "stretch" under control. I think thats about all you can do to increase your yield, except setting up those HPS's for flowering.

Super crop the main stem it will make her into a bush she will yield better that way.

tie em in a knot

- Immediately flip into flowering.
- Tie the main colas down so they go horizontal, but not below the rest of the small tops.
- Setup a scrog screen above the canopy top.

Hope you have the space, big plants spread wide take a lot of space!

Do all you can to bush it out, then when it does get heavy tie it up with string or plant yoyos or whatever. Those sativas will stretch so much that you will have to bend and tie them down a lot or they will turn into vines or grow past the lights if you don't have 15 ft of space
