A Question About Coverage

I've been doing a bit of searching and I can't find a definite answer to the coverage of a 250w CFL :eyesmoke:.Most people on here growing with CFL's use many small wattage bulbs putting them around the plants for best coverage but I have a big 250w bulb and when looking for the answer of coverage on one of these bulbs the answers just give how far from the plant you can have CFL's 1-2 inches
What I want to know is how much floor coverage can you expect from a 250w CFL compared to 250w HPS :dunce:

The downside of cfls is that they HAVE to be close in. That's why we usemany smaller ones. A big 250 can only be an inch from one point on the plant. Everything further back is getting progressively less. One with a hood would be ok on top, but would still require sidelight because of its lack of penetration.

I'd say the best use of a large cfls would be to veg a group of plants close together (in which case it can be close to the whole canopy), or over a scrog where again, there is a canopy not several large tree shaped plants with colas here and there.

Thanks for the answer Illegal Smile,I have a power plant reflector for the 250w and thats what i was thinking,Scrog would be the best bet because the light just doesn't reach the bottom
So you reckon it would only be enough for 1 plant flowering as opposed to how many for a 250w HPS

If its 250w actual in red spectrum I would say it would flower 2 sq ft of small plants, perhaps 4.

i dont think you wasted your money, i use small hps and enviros, in my experience the quality of bud ( not quantity } is better with enviro than hps. get hps but chuck the 250 in there too. blue enviro really are tops for veg, lots of short spaced bud sites if careful, if you want to see some good plants grown under enviro just take a look at my albums.
