a question about harvesting diffrent nugs at diffrent times.

so my top cola seems to be getting done quicker than all the lower stuff, id say the ratio of red to white hairs is between 35-40%. while the others are more like 15-20%. so my question is: if i clip just the top cola when its done, will it shock the rest of the plant very much? i dont want to cause the lower nugs to go hermie on me. i tied one branch down and topped it to pretty much force it to grow upwards.
if anyone has any input on this id be very grateful.

^^^^^^^ go for it but go and buy a cheap magnifier make sure it is at least 30x (radio shack or the source) and have a look at your plants to see what color the trychromes are dark is bad, clear to cloudy is what your looking for. Going by color of hairs does not work. Here are some pics of what your looking for, these are my genetics I call Blue Storm, DJ Short True Blue X Northern Lights X Freesland for the Quebec HA.

yeah, ive heard going by the trichs is best, i just need to go get a magnifier. great shots of yours though, amazing really. thanks a lot, i guess ill be chopping at seperate times. which is fine because that top nug is going to be faaaat

definitly go by the trichs... and actually the best time to cut is 50% amber 50% cloudy. that its when it is the perfect time. it really depends on what high you want. the more amber the more couch lock high the more cloudy the more you get a head high. read up on it get a magnifier and check out all the buds you can even the buds you buy from your buddy then you will get an idea of what to look for.

niceee ok, so ill cut it when it starts to show just a bit of amber, i want a really sativa high from this. + rep to both you guys for being cool.

or if you don't have several plants, the top should be amber the middle will be cloudy and the bottom clear...give or take a little, you get the idea.

chop the whole plant then you have a little of everything. thats what i like to do. but im not a huge amber fan, a lot of people seem to be though. i usually wait until the amber just barely starts to show up then i start chopping. i like em cloudy best. but like i said usually i have enough to get a little of everything.

in the end its your plant, chop the thing whenever you want.

very true, i only have the 1 flowering. another thing is, the bottom has a lot of filling out to do, and i want the lower branches to have time to grow out.

man, my plant looks like some raggedy weed, all those 1 finger leaves everywhere... its just so exited to be in the sun so much.

I chopped the tops of 2 of my plants, as the tops were kinda dieing off, they were so mature. Losing sugar leaves. The buds on the bottom are way behind and need to darken and fatten up.

I use a 45x scope I got off ebay. Comes with a LED too. Was about 6 bucks shipped. Type in 45x scope and a bunch of them will come up.

alright well im glad i got that solved, thanks everyone for the advivce/recomendations. ill be getting a magnifier not to long from now so i can see when to clip the top.
also, exactly which ones are the 'sugar leaves'? i can take a couple of good guesses, but not sure.

I still find it hard to judge cause there is just SOSOOOOOO dam much trichs everywhere. I have a 30x illuminated loup, also I'm new to this and not really sure what to look for quite yet

alright, well i just noticed that i can plainly see without a microscope, the very top like, 10 calyxes have very amber heads on a few trichs. so im going to let the rest go wait till its half way down the top bud. im so exited that i can see that, it looks really great, some are plainly much clearer, and these are like nice golden amber crystals.
