A question on how lights pertain to yield...

So I see a lot of people associating light with yield saying that a 600w HPS will normally put out about 1lb. Well I have a 400w MH/HPS should I be expecting a certain amount from that or is skys the limit? I'm only running the mh right now but will be switchin to 12/12 hps in about 3 days. do I need to? will I see a difference.

Yield always depends on the strain you are growing, and how you are growing them. Scrog and LST methods yield higher than natural growth because the inner nodes receive more light. As for lighting, you'll notice a big difference when you switch to HPS. HPS produces more lumens = more light penetration

You're the man...sweet and simple. + rep thanks

HPS helps the buds gain weight. MH makes em frostier. Ideal lighting uses both during flowering.
The more light you have, the better your buds will be.

So I'm going to the hydro store tomorrow to buy a HPS bulb for the final 4-8 weeks of flowering. I have a 400w MH/HPS ballast that I'm using and I was wondering if its worth spending the extra 45$ on THIS BULB. If it's really going to make a difference then I cant see why it wouldnt be worth it but I'm looking for a little expertise/feedback. Thanks guys and gals.

I was concerned about heat so I went to three sidelights with 55w cfl 2700k bulbs for flowering. I'm confident I'm getting just as good light penetration and no significant heat. My cost was a bit higher, just under $20 each.

I wouldnt expect you're getting as much yield as you could if you were using a hps...the cfl's just don't put off newhere near the amount lumens the HID lights do. My question more pertained to the quality of different bulb manufactuers. thx tho
