Well, that is just telling you the incandecent rating. I'm talking about ACTUAL watts used by either LED or CFL, you should have somewhere around 180w for the size space (4ftx4ftx2ft) if I am reading it right. How many plants are you going to try to put in there?

You for sure want to have reflective material on the inside of the grow box. Keep as much light as you can bouncing back toward the plants

I have 600 watts LED, and my first grow was horrible ( my fault though) each plant yield 7 grams lol. I cropped too early and my plants were stunned so many times off of noobish mistakes. But one thing that made me love my LEDs are, buds are fluffy but super frosty buds!! Even though my plants were cropped early, it had way more crystals and taste and longer high than any top shelf HPS grown weed i have smoked. I average half an oz per month from top shelf medical weed. But my LEDs, 3 puff and im high as hell and 7 grams will last me a month ;)

as well as with our grow journal, lucky, we'd appreciate it if you kept your opinions and "journal advertisements" to yourself. this isnt an advertisement for your grow, you want free add space? ..... www.craigslist.org

norma- the panels you have aren't going to be very powerful. you might want to consider some additional full spectrum cfl's or floro tubes. the addition of the extra spectrums will make up for what the led fixtures lack, and add some more intensity. possibly even add a small (150w +/-) hps light. give us some more details on your light panels, where did they come from and what spectrums do they offer? it would help greatly to know these types of details :)

Interesting how I came across you pimping your own agenda in another thread trying to get traffic to this one:

"
there is a current led discussion, that has a good deal of additional info and some great pics of some fixtures torn down and explained... it is here: A real led discussion "

Look familiar? This was posted on 4-27-2010. How quick one becomes a hypocrite

More experience and patients i did so many abuse, 1. Boiling hot water to kill bugs but killed most of my crop. The plants that lived became #2. They were so stunned. They pretty much finished flowering under 12 inches however for plants that small 7 grams is good also i pinched alot of sample lol and took a few clones while it was flowering. Also it was outdoor half the time in a hidden shaded area and brought indoor to finish off. If u can refrain doing wat i did, mabe alot more than 7 grams but the quality is tottally worth it. I have a second grow going on this time sog under the 600 watter:)

this is the last time i will mention you or take note of anything you say from here on out..... that post was started over a year ago, and since then tek has changed so much, that the people still posting on that thread, (that had long since been abandoned by the original thread starter), needed to be aware of the current tek to make the correct choice when deliberating on whether to buy leds. i was purely trying to help.... NOT boast or draw attention to myself or Bonnie.

done and done

well, as long as we learn from our mistakes, right?

thanks again for the tidbit on quality, anyone else have anything to share on quality of bud produced by led vs hps?

Wow 35 post's and u think u can just call people out? Anyways RIU is a place of learning and sharing not a place for trolls go some where else troll.

Sorry BnK I had to call this fool out he obviously doesnt know what RIU is for. Any knowlege is good knowledge. Sounds like u want one everything maybe the USA shouldnt have so many diverse colleges, maybe just one collge, like say SIU all colleges are SIU now. Better yet lets just let the federal goverment take care of it. from now on all universit'y/colleges will now be FGSU for NAZI leadership stdies(FederalGovernmentSinglemindedUniversity). See where I am going with this GUY.

hey bonnie n klyde do you mind if i ask you a noob question? which one of these wavelengths are better, 6:1:1:1 ratio for both, 60 red 630-660nm, 10 blue 460nm, 10 orange 610nm, 10 warm white orrrr......the same thing except only 660nm for the red??

Plants actually take in light and use it all the way from about 300nm to just over 700nm and peak in the middle 400's and around 635nm, so the more wavelengths you have the better and definitely don't cut out the 630nm. By the way, cool white has a much better spectrum than warm for growth at all stages and warm is just slightly better for purely flowering. Hope this answers your question.

yea thanks, do you think i should go for a 90 watt ufo or get a 120 watter? im only gonna grow 3 plants at the most.

well, we have bought from 4 different companies, but stealth grow has produced the best fixture so far.... but even the stealth grow fixture recently had a string of 24 leds go out on it.... they are taking good care of us i might add.

i would work my way up from the bottom, starting with the cheapy led ufo's off of ebay and see what you think (if you wanted to know my opinion on where to buy) they work, but the quality of the fixtures on ebay is lacking quite a bit.... if you like your results with those, then spend the money on a better light :)

cheers
