A "skin" on the young stem.

I've grown a fair amount of weed...about 1/2 and 1/2 seeds and clones. This recent batch of seedlings I got in week 3 and a few days, have this thin, and peeling skin on the stem up to the first set of real leafs, not on all of them, but about 50% of them...never really seen that before? WTF is that?
Edit: I've never used this breeder before.

Young plants don't need extra gas absorbtion through the stem, as they age the stem provides through lenticels that develop under the juvenile layer.
