A "skin" on the young stem.

I've grown a fair amount of weed...about 1/2 and 1/2 seeds and clones. This recent batch of seedlings I got in week 3 and a few days, have this thin, and peeling skin on the stem up to the first set of real leafs, not on all of them, but about 50% of them...never really seen that before? WTF is that?
Edit: I've never used this breeder before.

its cellulose bud, good conditions for the plants if you see it....at least thats my understanding of it

Thanks guys.. I wasn't really worried about it too much. I've grown 100's of plants... just never really seen this. We did pay $15.00 a seed for these exotics. Maybe I need to become a breeder.... weed market is not that great.

Yup happens all the time.

Out of curiosity, did you change your feed at all? I think I noticed it more after starting to add ArmorSi.

Cool..... I don't know if it was genetics, feeding early (which has never been a problem), over spray from feeding .... however, growing 100's....or shit maybe even 1000's, i've never lost a plant..... (knocks on wood).

I dont know what causes excessive peeling like this, once i saw it long ago i searched, found out what it was and that its innocuous and normal i stopped looking into it.

I think of it as cannabis version of bark, like white birch trees...white birch have similar bark

Young plants don't need extra gas absorbtion through the stem, as they age the stem provides through lenticels that develop under the juvenile layer.
