A Spoiled Princess, Tropicana Cookies

It's day three of hardening-off my two healthy five week old plants, tanking them out of the grow cabinet at 8am for some direct morning sun. Around 11:00am I put them under a 50% shade screen until around 2pm, then bring them back in during the heat of the day. Both plants are from ILGM feminized seeds. The GG4 is LOVING the direct sunlight, reaching up and dancing in the breeze. The Tropicana Cookings mopes and droops within 5 minutes of being outside her cozy little controlled mylar palace.

The first day I put her right back inside because she looked like she was dying. Yesterday I left her out until 2pm under the shade screen, but she looked really bad when she went back in at 2pm. This morning under her 130W LED, she was happy again. I put her out this morning and she's bitching and moaning again. Literally, 5 minutes and she's drooping like I sprayed her with paraquat.

Maybe this is a strain that just prefers indoors. Do you guys think she'll eventually harden off to the full sun?

It'll harden off eventually! You gotta keep in mind that weed has been growing outdoors for millions of years. It's well adapted for direct sunlight. Sometimes our spoiled young plants are a bit finicky, but they'll come around eventually.

And ultimately, no artificial light can beat the full spectrum of sunlight! It is the gold standard.

Thanks Ray. I'm just going to put her under the shade screen earlier. She snaps right back overnight in the box. Hopefully today will be better.

I guess the third day is the charm. It's warmed up to 75 and I gave her a little water. Now she's picked right up and the leave are praying upward. I'm just impatient. Thread closed. LOL
