You'd do better with hid......dont you understand cfls are half as effecient as hps? you'll pay more to get less lighting. I've used them plenty of times myself, but they cant compete with hps for cost to light ratio. I mean actual watts, not equivelent. I am very very skeptical you could ever find 42w bulbs that cheap without buying in bulk. If i found that deal i would buy the store out, even if they had 100 bulbs at that price.

perhaps I was exaggerating. for my grow, 12 packs of 27 watters were 3 dollars each though.

I would guess that you are running 42W cfls (150W equivalent). At 5 per plant this comes out to 840 watts, you could run two 400W hids for the same cost. If 23oz wet is your average harvest from 4 plants, you should be able to easily double that with 800 watts of HPS. 23 oz. wet will only be about 5.5-6 oz. dry which is only like 0.2g/w. The CFLs only put out 2800 lumens, a 400W HID puts out 50,000.

I would like to see your 20 oz of bud you harvested, then I will sit and spin. I use CFL too man, young veg and clones love them. I use them to supplement my HPS. Everything has it's place, not one thing will be your answer to everything. Think about it, why do 99.9 % of all growers use a HPS/MH set up? Probably because it works best.

I don't think anybody's jealous of anything, just annoyed at someone with limited experience coming on here ranting and raving, calling people retards and telling them to shut the fuck up. He showed up with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove.
Plenty of people have successful grows under CFLs, he's not the first and certainly not the greatest. Use CFLs if they suit your area best, but an HPS lamp is going to basically double your lumens at an equivalent wattage, which means bigger, denser buds for the same power usage.
A bit of nute burn would have the tips and margins showing some damage. That plant really has no leaves left and the few left are brown and crispy. If that is an entire plant, then I don't know where he'd get 23 oz wet off 5 of them. Maybe if you weight it in the pot...
u make the rest of the people that know what they are doing using cfl's look bad. I have 125watt cfl's and they are at least 12" long and 20 of them in a closet would be as hot as a 600 watt hps or maybe even as hot as a 1000watt hps so untill u know what u are talking about, shut up and do some more reading like the real wattage of your bulbs

im not knocking that nice looking bud,but just think of what it could o been with hids.. for one thing they would be dencer and bigger. and if you did the math with just the cfl's and fixuers you could have bought a hps, let alone the actual cost of power to run your setup power wise im sure you are right close

i pay 5.95 a bulb, they are 10 inches long,,the temp in my closet with ALL the lights on stays around 80, with the fan,,you can all say waht you want,,i get buds,,yield and great smoke for almost no money,,no fox farm,,bloom and wahtever the hell it is. i obviously am doing something right,, I GET BUDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD<<LOTS OF ITTTTTTTTTTTT..isnt that the point,,mr---skilled "at nothing!!! you do not know what you are talking about,,my proof is in front of me burning,,lol ,,so happy i posted this
