Hi, Newbie here, I bought a 100w CFL at walmarts that says its 16000 K and I was wondering If I need to stick to around 6400K to get good veg on new plants?
Any help is appreciated :leaf:

wtf 16000K that is like light for an aquarium I think..
I dont know how beneficial that will be for the plants...

Its just a regular cfl light from walmarts, regular screw bulb and everything , they had 40 60 100watts.

Is not a cfl light a cfl light?

Light spectrum is everything. 6500k for veg and 2700k for flower. Some variance is ok, but 16000k is no good. They will take it back at walmart. Find a light in the right spectrum for the cycle you are on.

Sorry, I made a Mistake, Its 16000 Lumens, what you u think of that?
And thanks for helping

Maybe I should be asking this...
What should I be using If I can only get lights etc from walmarts right now???

lol ok that is better, what color temp though.
You can use smaller cfls and use them with circular metal reflectors if they have them
why Walmart only? Do you have store credit or a gift card there?
Home depot has some nice stuff too, if they are a possibility?

I'll try that and thanks,
I dint notice the color temp on the box, what would be best to use?
Dont have a ride right now lol.

Daylight is generally 6500k which is good for vegging. Soft white is generally 2700k which is good for 12/12 or flower. The 100w is most likely a watt equivallent and only 23-26 true watts. You probably need at least 3 of those per plant and keep them about 2 in off the top while maitaining temps. The more the merrier as long as you can keep temps about 85 or less

Hey, I found the box, u were right about the watts, also its 1600 lumens, Whats the right amount to use for Veg?
Thanks again

I bet you are right about the actual wattage.
If that is the actual wattage I suggest several with V adapters to accommodate more

If you plan on using cfl's do a mix.
say 6 of the 6500k and 3 of the 2700k. use this combo for veg.
and reverse it for flower.

I wouldnt say there is a proper lumen range. well there is, but think of it this way, the more lumens the better the lighting. The better the lighting, the better the plants.
