? about my Bud dryer

I spent the last few days building a bud dryer out of an old cedar lined closet, it's about 6'x2'x5', I built a framework inside with 12 racks using redwood I than stapled window screen over them to create the racks.

I haven't decided to go with air being pulled through the bottom of the closet by a 6" inline fan out the top, or go with a dehumidifier inside the sealed bud dryer/closet.
What do you guys know about the subject?

Thanks
Uc~

Looks very nicely made.

I'd go with the fan for sure, using a dehumidifier is not ideal, unless you got it perfectly set, and it's a lot more tricky to maintain than a simple air extraction by one or multiple fans.
It's important that you can move a lot of air out of the drying space when it's closed up like that.

I'd only recommend using a dehumidifier / humidifier if you live in places where RH is a problem generally.
And not in small spaces unless set at 20% power of something close to that.

Yeah, What he ^^^ said!! I'd put a bathroom type extraction fan at the bottom with a passive intake vent at the top. Draw in warmer air. Dude, that is a thing of beauty!!!

You don't suppose the cedar will fuck with the flavor or smell, do ya?

Thanks for the feed back guys!
I'll go with an inline fan than, maybe an 8" for more air transfer.

I don't think the cedar will leave an aftertaste but I'll soon find out. I think people used cedar lined closets to keep moister away from there clothes?

It keeps away the moths. Thanx vanishingtoaster, that's reassuring.

Undercurrent, you must be planning on getting some bud, huh? That's a lot of drying area. I like it!!!

An 8" fan for dry ing is crazy, you,ll fuck it drying it to quickly. As someone already said get a bathroom fan and pasive intake, temp around 18/20c and 55% r.h it should be taking 12/14 days to dry. thats the secret of curing, long and slow. atb TCD "if you need a smoke take enogh to do you and dry only that" leave the rest the 12/14 dys. And now i,ve just seen the photos you put up, it would be a crime to dry that fkn lovely looking bud. Take it easy bud atb TCD

That is Skunk no 1 ?

About a 75 to 100 CFM fan would be about ideal. Trichomedome is right on. Dry it slowly, then jar it for a few weeks. That crop deserves the best you can treat it!!!

I installed 2 50cfm fans that exhaust out the top of the bud dryer.
I also drilled 12, 1-3/4" holes in the bottom of the closet and stapled screen mesh over top to prevent larger particles from entering the cab during bud drying.

Looks very nice!

Just make sure that if it seems like the buds are drying too fast you can somehow cover up any holes to allow for slower drying.
~7 days drying would be optimum and allow for maximum flavour and odour to develop further :joint:
