ac man came today, the bedroom was locked where my plants in the closet to the bedroom he was in the house but said "i need to get into the attic, is it through this back bedroom" i said no and then told him it was outside, he got up there fixed the problem question if i had been up there because someone had bumped it loose then left to his truck were he sat for 15 minutes and then left. i got up in the attic and you could see a 8" duct coming out of the attic floor and vaguely smell the plant up there , but none the less if he was to see the duct and smell it it definately smelled of plant even though it was carbon filter but only if you smelled direct ducting should i be worried it happened at 8 am but it is 10:30 pm and i havnet done anything, i wasnt worryying until i smoked now im paranoid

If he called the cops they will wait and bust you at night, be ready to face cops at a seconds notice. Maybe let a friend "borrow" the plants for a week or so until you are sure cops aren't gonna come knockin' on your door.

If he called them they will do whats called a knock & talk or rap & tap. Where they knock on your door and say they want to talk about something random, upon opening your door they will say "i smell marijuana, can we come in" they will pressure you to let them in you rhouse, once in they will pressure you to give up your plant, "I know you probly only got a few and we are only after guys growing 100 or more" or some bs like that. the key is do not i repeat DO NOT open your door at all, you have no obligation to talk to them about anything. look through the window and tell them that you cant step out right now and to have their dispatch call you. If they say they "have to/ can make you" talk then go to the nearest window, put your hands up where they can see and say "here are my hands, kick the door down."
Because if they had any legal right to talk to you your door would be gone and you would have a gun in your face, its called an escelation of force law which they have to have more than probable cause and a warrent to breach an entrance into a home.

I worked for an ac company once opon a time. That dude was probably pissed you didnt smoke a bowl with him. LOL dont sweat it.
Ive seen crazy shit going on in peoples home. I was up in an attic checking out a furnace once they never changed the filter. I went down looking for the home owners and they were scuttled in a back room smoking crack. I was like I changed your filter and the office will bill you. later

i wouldnt worry about it.
im an a/c tech and ive been in peoples house that had roaches and unfinished blunts laying around.
this guy has nothing to gain by reporting you. and i dont think anyone that works as hard as him cares about reporting a suspicion of growing.

that type of shit is normally done by uptight douche bags that like to ruin other peoples fun. those people usually have cake jobs and very high opinions of themselves. not the type that crawls through attics.

yeah i think im in the clear now, but tdamn did it have me worried the whole house stank had to redo my filter, i didnt think an ac man would be the type, but a fellow friend down the road was growing 1 in his backyard got spotted by the city electritian and busted, but im right outside the city so i guess thats a slight advantage none of those masquitos including cops buzzing around my house

DrGreenz has the best course of action.. Not that this incident should even be a factor to your basic security protocols, but definately make sure they can't find anything AT ALL in your trash etc.. A small closet grow probably isn't leaking light/odour outside, but make sure..
Now about the AC guy.. Its common for workers to sit in their vans and do a bit of paper-work before leaving.. Most will just add it to their list of stories they tell friends about their job.. They see stuff ALL the time.. If they reported these things everytime they saw them they'd be in constant contact with police, and be spending as much time volounteering for authorities as they do on the job..
You're probably definately safe from this, but use it as a wake-up call to smarten up.. If you had any reason to believe he'd need into the attic you should have inspected it first.. Or even waited till harvest for the service call.. Boils down to the 7 P's.. Proper prior planning prevents piss-poor performance..:)

This story hits home in so many ways. As an upper management individual for a heat and air company with many yearys of field service I've seen many personal grows, and even a couple of backyard (very brave or very stupid) gardens. I would say that 90% of the service techs would only mention it to their fellow techs once and then forget it. Of course I may have seen so many simply because nothing bad ever happened to the ones I saw after I left. Kind of like one grower asking another " Hey dude, my a/c went tits up. Who should I call" and the other growers says " I've used XYZ Heat and Air several times and never had a hassle." So if you know of service trades that seem to look the other way then by all means send business their way, but also and just as important, pay the bill when the guys climbs down from your 150 degree attic!
