Adding LED to HPS grow...

Alright guys,

Lately I've been thinking about ways to get more light in my grow tent, without the extra heat. I was thinking about adding a 240w LED panel to my current setup consisting of 2 x 150w hps lights.

Anyone ever tried using both together?

Also, does anyone have an opinion on this light, whether it be you owning it, or just what you can read? I'm new to this whole LED thing, want to know if this light is worth the money.

Sorry, but the link you posted doesn't work, so I can't tell which LED light you're talking about. As for your ballast question, no, you don't need a ballast for an LED light, they are plug and play. I grow exclusively with LED's, if I may offer a word of advice, if you're going to go for an inexpensive LED light, look up Vipar LED on Ebay.
 
What size is your tent?

How tall is it (head room can be a factor in your choice)?

Yeah, I have heard that Vipar is a safe bet, for those not wanting to pay an arm and a leg.

You will most likely want to be looking for the unit to have 3watt Bridgelux led's 1 watt may not be strong enough, 5 watt may be too laser beam like (unless you have the head room).

Among the red's and the blue leds, you will want some white light and some IR light.

If you find a Vipar unit like that, you should be able to proceed with confidence.
