Adding UV Lights

Hey guys,

I've seen quite a few sources stated that adding UV can drastically increase your resin production when adding in the right quantities and time limits.

I was considering purchasing two 4' single bulb t5 fixtures and putting a agromax pure UV light in each forr a 4x4 area.

I've seen a few different ideas on times they should be on so I'm curious if anyone here has experience with UV and can help out?

I see a lot of people only doing a 15 minute burst a few times per day.
Just set it on a timer and avoid those times and eye/skin prrotectionisn't a factor

Thats your call. The sun emits uv thru the day in changing intensities. Uv turns almost anything to dust, even at 15 minutes. This is a slow process but gassing off or plastic dust doesnt sound apetizing to me. Thats just my 2cents. I have seen people use it thru their designated photoperiod.

I've tried a reptile bulb. A uvb compact florescent bulb. I never knew about 15 min light cycling. I had it on the full time. 24hr and I burned the hell outta my plants. Be careful

Kinda a narrow view as it seems one is saying since the sun has Uv it turns everything to dust.
But ya know what???
Time changes everything to dust also.

Start your Uv About 4-5hours after your lights come on (12/12)
Keep them on for 3-4 hours
Watch plants and adjust uv time length up or down as needed.
Don’t check your plants with uv on ( and stay indoors outta the sun) and you won’t turn to dust
You may loose a little bit of the end weight, but will gain much more in resin production.
Some plants will thrive while others will turn to dust
Your results may vary.
Peace

Prolonged exposure to uv will cause your grow equipment damage. I don’t think i have a narrow view. This is a scientific fact, not even a view.
To each his own. I’m not trying to convert people but also the dangers should be noted. Both to the grow equipment and to the grower.

There's safer ways to help bud potency. Starting with knowing how to grow without a new problem every week. Using good lights. Not being a nute nut.

Have a 4' solarcure fixture that is on for 5 hrs per day, this looks to be my best run yet. Also have added extra red so that may be part of it.
Got pics? I'm waiting for my quantums to come next week and will run a solacure on a light mover. Also have supplemental reds/far/near infra

Beautiful setup! What's your side lighting? Nice healthy plants

I laughed a little with the file name. I imagine a hippy taking nice pics of stray dogs lol no offense intended

Side lights are led tubes I bought from ebay, use about 15w per, I think they help some.

No offence taken, I'm close to a hippie but those weren't strays, just my worthless dogs.

I have them cut now, still in the scrog screen, have pics but my camera is outside right now.

Ended up with just over 1.5# from this, works out to nearly 1g per watt. Have the next set nearly done, will be 8 weeks tomorrow, there are 4 3x crazy and 1 cbd critical mass, thought I'd try something different, supposed to be 5% thc/ 5% cbd. I lowered the lights this run and increased the nutes ( mc, pk boost, bud candy). I have used tap water (410 ppm) only the last three waterings, last runoff was 1200 ppm, so really 790 taking the 410 into account. Will get some good pics soon, these have way more trichomes than the last so my hopes are high. Buds a little smaller but super dense.

Nice. Congrats man! How big is your hut? 4x3?

I'm just past week 4 with the solacure running. I didn't realize it would keep the stretch down that much. I vegged a 3x3 space and flower in a 4x4 and still didn't fill up the bloom tent. I trained for 7 days and only got 6 inch colas. I'm running it close with 2Hrs @ 12" now
With that said, my plant is looking beautiful at 30 days. Can't wait to see what she'll be in 6 weeks
