Adjusting Soil pH

Hello all,

I was wanting some opinions on how to lower or higher your soil pH accordingly. I found a thread on it, where say your soil pH is 5.8 and you want it say 6.4, that you would flush the soil with say 7.4 ph...

Is this accurate? Is there a accurate way that I can do this?

Yes, add dolomite lime and it will keep your soil buffered into the 'sweet' zone of 6.5-6.8.

It's that simple, gardeners and farmers have been doing it forever.

Or, you can get complicated with the meters, pH up & down, and chase pH the entire grow.

will dolomite automaticly keep it at 6.5 ish ??? how much do you add ? can it be added after plants are already in the soil?

So dolomite lime is a buffer, badass, so if its acting as a buffer, is it still necessary to pH my water? About how much dolomite would I need to add to a 1gal bucket, and is to much a bad thing?

Thx bro for the help

I still ph my water when using dolomitic lime, but it's prolly not necessary. 2 tbsp for a 1 gallon container is about what I use. Just going by my limited experience, it's really hard to over do dolomitic lime. I wouldn't add more than 2tbsp per gallon though, just to be safe.

2tbl/gallon of mix, or 1cup/cf of mix.

2tbl for your 1 gallon bucket. You can sprinkle it on the surface and water it in with your regular waterings. But, in the future, add it to your mix before use.

You can pH your water if you feel the need, *myself*, I don't pH anything anymore and haven't for many months.

This is awesome advice, I'm about to finish my first grow and I've been chasing the perfect soil pH for the entire grow! I'm definitely going to get some dolomite lime to save me the hassle in future! +rep to you sir!

Yes from several botany type classes I learned that pH of the soil is essential, but we never learn how to actually adjust it or anything we can add to help buffer it, so thank God for wet! I can't wait to pick some of this stuff up!
