Advanced Nutrient question

Hi all, I just started using Advanced Nutrients and was having a few problems and figured someone out there might have seen this before. I’m using their Organic formula minus F1 Folic Acid (no local store seems to have it) I’m growing Grand Daddy Purple and White Widow about 4-5 weeks apart. The GDP seemed to have a deficiency of Nitrogen or it was locked out of something? I flushed it for a day and since I was so close to flowering I just clear all the under growth and continued down the same path. About 2 weeks into flowering it seemed to be really lacking nitrogen so I flushed it and gave it a shot of GH FloraMicro 5-0-1 for a day to give it a concentration of nitrogen. I know, probably not the brightest thing to do. But I had 3 good clones so wtf, experiment right now. Or was I trying to save the plant from a premature death? Lol It seems to be doing better but I got a similar problem with my WW, seems the tips yellow then the edges of the sun leaves and this progresses up the plant. It looks like the older the leaf the worse the problem. My base water is about 60-75 PPM. So when I mix my solution the PPM is usually low. I’m trying to keep my PH around 5.8. Anyone familiar with this formula of AN see this before or know what might be causing this?

Not familiar with AN but the plant in the pic looks nute burned, whether from lock-out or high PPM. I would recommend you start with your recommended dosage diluted in half and go up from there as the plant reacts.

Just my 2 cents, hope it helps.

Ive always used 1/2 the recommended amount. with General hydroponics 3 part nutrients, and with dyna grow and dyna bloom then gradually increase to amount the directions say to use specially hydro , no room for mistakes like in dirt

I believe that I got lock out from one of the nutrients, so I'll flush it a day and try the solution at half strength. My PPM is about 600 which just 50 PPM less then were it should be. Someone mentioned that Advanced Nutrients is real strong so use it 1/4 strength at first till you get it dialed in. A friend said as long as your PPM is low don't back off on the chemicals. (I think he's wrong about that?) It did get a little hot when I had to throw it under a HPS But it should be fine now.

:joint:I use the advanced line. When I first started, I had a little trouble too.I hope you have a good ppm pen. I started with full strength from there nute chart, way to strong. Use about half strength. And read your plants from there. Remember more is not always better. The good thing you will find is you don't use as much, making the cost of the advanced line seem not as bad in the long run.

That’s what I heard from other people. One person said try ¼ strength first. Think I’ll try ½ and see what happens. I got a Hanna meter also. Funny thing is every time I mix the solution my PPM is 50-100 lower than the recommended amount? A friend said not to cut the solution if your PPM’s are correct. I can see his logic. Because your decreasing the percentage of all chemicals while the problem might be just one. Hence the plant isn’t getting the maximum amount of 5 nutes because 1 is causing problems. I realize that this has to be done to save the plant. But the more forums I read about Advanced Nutrients the more I find people burning things up. I rather watch my plants burn up in a bong versus while their still growing in the pots! bongsmilie I’m starting to guess that a spike in one nute did cause a deficiency in another. I’m flushing it right now and I’ll continue half strength and see what happens. I got a few GDP clones that I’m going to experiment and compare General Hydroponics with Advanced. I’m starting to question whether the claimed increase in yield is worth the extra money and time playing chemist. I prefer the KIS method. (keep it simple) One other note that I found some people might find useful.

1.Water level drops PPM goes up: Drop your nutrient strength in relationship to the PPM rise.
2. Water level drops PPM stays the same: You may be able to fine tune you nutrient strength, if growth is vigorous leave it alone.
3. Water level drops PPM drops: Raise you nutrient strength in relationship too PPM drop.

I used General Hydroponic nutrients for several years, no real complaints except for the salt build up, but once I discovered Botanicare's line of organic nutes, Pure Blend Pro, I have never looked back. Not only is it stupid simple, I have never, not once since I switched over had to adjust my pH - now mind you my tap water is 20ppm and a perfect 6.0 pH, but I get no drift whatsoever and sometimes I let the reservoir go 3 or 4 weeks before a flush.
Not a company rep, just sharing my experience.

Good luck.
