Great post. Thanks for taking the time to do the test AND document it.

I, too, went all out early in my growing life on nutes. Did the AN thing a few years back cause I truly thought they may have been onto something. Not so much.

I've used GH 3 part for around 15 years, and recently switched to Cutting Edge 3 part with a single Mag/Sulf additive. I hang with quite a few commercial growers and the Cutting Edge seems to be the most popular, with GH picking up the slack.

I hope some of the newer growers read this. It's so much more important for them to concentrate on getting the atmosphere and canopy shape right, than worrying if they have the right additive. Most worry more about nutes cause there's more nute advertising than atmosphere controls and canopy management. Yet, the grower with the right canopy will out perform the grower with a poor canopy every time regardless of what nutes are used. I visited a grow several years back cause a guy wanted to know if he was using his nutes right. When I walked in the room was 93 f, and the humidity 80%. Yet, he wanted to know if he should be using nute bottle 13 or nute bottle 14.

If you re in hydro especially give the MAxibloom a try. So much easier to deal with and cheaper. I couldnt be happier.

Absolutely......Environment, canopy first......then nutes......but....In my opinion......It all adds up in the end....The key to the nutes is just finding the recipe that works best for your strains and growing style.....There are so many ways and in the end I believe mix and matching nutes and additives to find the perfect recipe will give you a unique product....Base nutes are just the beginning....Peace

I know this is an old thread, but I got to lay some praise down for any one out there doing a search, dlively11 got me using the MaxiBloom and MaxiGrow and I will never turn back! It works great and is literally the cheapest synthetic base nute you can buy in our Hydro Store. A lot of people where Im at love Supernatural, and the funny thing is that GH's Maxi series is damn near the same stuff for half the cost! Im using two 70 gal res's in the flower room and a 20 in the veg, so nute costs really add up!
The only reason the Hydro stores either dont carry or dont push cheap stuff like MaxiBloom is because you can make a much bigger profit on lines like Advanced Nutrients, which has a 50% markup, discounts are hard to come by, and all of there stuff is overpriced.
Also, thanks dlively11 for the recommendation on the Hydroplex, I was gonna try the Big Bud Powder for the first time over the liquid i have been using (as its half the cost), but Hydroplex is half the cost of the powder and has a lot of micros in it which big bud doesnt.

PS - Powder Kool Bloom is a good (and Cheaper) replacement for Mad Farmers MOAB.

If you want the results people are talking about from H&g and advanced you absolutely must run the full product line. I have personally in a closedenvironment have ran (not at the same time but one after another) gh, advanced, h&g, humboldt nutrients and old school peters oh and can't forget fox farms . I run with a lung room w/co2, same strain, heat, humidity, bulbs everything to the T. I can't argue with you because you only compared base nutrients. However my results have the top 3pretty close 1.)advanced 2.)h&g 3.) humboldt nutrients gh gave me results similar to fox farms and guess what peters did good as well when all said and done i run h&g advanced does edge it out in weight but i feel i get the best bang for my buck with h&g. Must say if you run product lines gh is definitely not with advanced or h&g

good thread my friends uses mostly all advanced and i think its worth it and not thattt much if u want the quality..

about the cutting edge its very cheap is it really worth it?

I have run the entire line of H&G for a long time...I saw this and gave maxibloom a try, (mixed with multizym,floralicious,and rootsxl) and the results were kickass.

I bought a bunch of maxibloom and am going back to KISS. Maxibloom and floralicious. The PH up is Dynagrow Protekt. I like bloom boosters like pk13/14, and Koolbloom.

Marketing is slick these days....
