I have a 400w setup with 6" fan and filter. With temp sensor fan speed controller.

Works like a charm in my closet 3.5x7x8.

I grow 4x2ft plants in here using approx 3x3 footprint.

Pics are day 26 of 12/12.

I would be careful using an unbranded fan, bought a 6" fan off E-bay for £56 and I had to return it as the noise was unreal....could hear the fan running in my garage while watching TV in my front room!! I then went to my local shop and bought a systemair 6" L1 fan for £76 and you can barely hear the fan when stating in the garage. so as they say you get what you pay for. I don't know your budget but sometime it's better to spend a bit more for peace of mind.
I wish you luck anyway no matter what you go for mate.

Peace

I do have to agree about you get what you pay for.

I use the SYSTEMAIR 6" A1 fan.

I've also used the L1. Great fans and highly recommended. Big brand names generally come with awesome warranties.

The trouble is that we are UK and brands differ across the water.

Vortex and CANFAN I hear I quite good in USA unsure if you can get them in Canada.

Why don't you visit a local grow shop if it is one near you? over here they have some set up running to show customer so you could hear their fan running. Don't have to buy it there but at least you would know what is around and seen what you could buy in action. Just think that a fan is a important part of your setup and buying of the internet, unless you already know the brand or model, is a risk.

I would recomend a chinese fan but a decent one like hydrofarm, cap, huricane, ecotech ect I would stay away from no name ballasts though and get a lumatech galaxy or phantom.
(600 watts kick ass on 400s) I have tried them all and the cheaper fans I mentioned work good as do US and canadian can and vortec fans for 2-4 lights each....fact not hype
