Advice on Closet Grow Room

Hey everyone,

I'm new to the forum and thank anyone in advance for replying to my post. I recently have gotten a license here in California and am looking to start an indoor grow room for 6 plants. The only parts of the house that I found to use are closets, as I have no basement or attic. I have attached a small diagram of the aforementioned closet with measurements and am wondering if this is a suitable space for growing? You will notice that there is a shelf in the closet that starts 5' from the ground. The two attached diagrams differ in location of plants(black dots). The problem I see happening is that as the plants grow and I raise the light, the shelf will begin to cut off part of the plant from receiving light. Will post pictures of closet soon. Any help is appreciated.

Well should work fine if ya ask me..., %' of space grows a pretty nice plant..., also depending on lights, flourescent I would say, if so you can keep the lights all but touching. good luck with the grow.

Im confused with your dimensions. It says the closet is 2'1" and the self takes up 1'10", which leaves only 3" for your plant area. Im either reading it wrong or u typed in a wrong dimension. Either way...

What are you planning on using for lighting? How high you light has to be above your plants may determine if the shelf will be in the way. You can also do some LST to help control the height of your plants. I dont see why you couldnt make a closet that size work somehow. a little more info on what you plan to setup would be helpful.

Peace!

I'd divide the closet into three zones, 2 side by side bloom chambers, 2' x 2' with a height of 5'. The third chamber lies across the previous two and continues to the top of the closet. This is for cloning and lit with cfl's or a T-5. The bloom chambers have a 250 hps hung vertically with no relective hood. Plants are placed in a semicircle around the bulb. Unless you have a crawlspace or attic for your fan, you might have to give up one of those bloom chambers for your fan and carbon filter.

I did type the wrong dimensions, it's 11" not 1' 10" for the shelf. I think I'll just remove the shelf though, free up some space. Another problem I have is getting outside air into the closet. Now there's a window pretty much right next to the closet but there's a half-wall separating them, which means I would have to bring a duct from the closet, into the room, around the wall, and to the window. Is there any way to camouflage this ducting?

Still deciding on HPS or CFL but not sure which would work best in that kind of grow space. I'm going off of the Jorge Cervantes Grow Guide, as far as my any "knowledge" I have about growing. Otherwise, I had a buddy that grow outdoors who's gonna give me hand. Any suggestions towards lighting or air flow would be welcomed.
