Advice on how to trim/prune for max yield

I have an almost 5 week plant i have been growing from seed in soil with a 200w sunblaster cfl bulb..Not sure what strain, but think it is a kush strain cuz that's all my guy usually gets.I am also thinking it is an indica because it is short and bushy.
Anyway,my question is,now that it is in it's 3-4 week of veg,i want to trim/prune it up for max yield, without killing the thing,or stunting it too much. When i look underneath where the stalk is,all i see is shoots going everywhere. The base is about the diameter of a nickel so far.I can see which branches are gonna produce the nugs, but also see alot of leaves not really attached to the nug branches. They look like the leaves that first developed before the branching began, can they be removed.?I've been thinking of maybe topping it,but don't think that height is going to be a problem.
I will try to include some pics so you can get a better idea of what i am talking about(If not, than go to my profile and click on albums and go to the new plant).
Also, yes i know my grow is ghetto right now(it's my third try),but i am in the process of building a box,and have some ghs big bang fem seeds on the way.I just want to learn how it's done i the trial and error stage with the free seeds first.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Also, are plants supposed to be this big and bushy after 34 days from seed(and in soil),or have i created a monster here??

Nice looking plant. There are a couple things you can do to maximize yield. My first bit of advice is that if you want to do any topping/LST.. START IMMEDIATELY! I top my clones as soon as they show a decent root system in a small cup. Then I transplant a few weeks later. Takes a while.. but by this time you could have 4-5 main colas that are of similar height instead of one big one. How much bigger do you want the plant to get? How much longer to veg? If you top now, I would give it at least two weeks before you flip to flower. If this is your first time.. you could just do some "lollipopping" and let it go to see what it does. Lollipopping is when you pick a spot on the lower stem.. On yours I say about 4 inches from the base of the stem up. You then remove EVERYHING, branches, leaves, etc from below that 4 inch line. This allows the plant to focus all it's energy to the top areas. This works rather well. Another thing that I have done is use some kind of wooden stake to start pulling some of the larger branches outward so they get more light. This will make them shoot up once you start flowering. Just some advice.

There is no need to trim or prune a cannabis plant at all apart from the topping plant is a indica looks like a pineapple exspess or mk ultra look to see if there is any blu in the stem if there is it may be mk ultra or dutch passion blueberry all grow in the way the plant is in the picture...................tyke......................................................

Topping is way ok to control plant hieght in your grow area

trimming/pruning is bad, do not do it, the leaves is what makes the bud

last tip learn to keep em green :bigjoint:

super crop throughout veg and FIM before flowering.....

super cropping will push more tops towards the canopy, push the lower branches that normally get wasted up towards the light to flower, and causes a shorter bushier plant all around...

FIM'ing is similar to topping EXCEPT you arent removing any nodes or "tops" from the plant.. just pinching off a small amount.. this causes MUCH less stress.. and stress is what can cause a diminished harvest...

check my journal if you want to... that way you know im not just talking shit that has been said to me or just repeating something i read somewhere...

also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsFZ-xHId1c here is a vid from my last grow... again.. just more proof of the results...

i had 9 plants... averaged over 4.5 ounces a plant.. on my first hydro grow.. with multiple problems along the way, short veg times, and a couple mutants...

So pruning isn't necessary?I do like the idea of lollipopping though.I think i'm going to let it veg until the end of the month(2 months to the day from seed),then check for pre flowers. If it's a girl,i'll kick it into flowering, but if it turns out to be a male,i may just keep it anyway and collect some pollen.I have given it nuts from the start, but began to get nut burn so i have just been using water for now.I will also keep posting pics as i go.

Oh,there is some purple/red along some of the leaves and stems, but i think it is due to a potassium problem, and not genetics.
