advice on lighting

This is my first time to post so far i have just been studying but im about to start setting up shop and i need some help.
I am planning a grow in a closet that is about 30" deep and 57" wide. So far what im wondering is would it be better to have 3 150w or 1 600w. It seems to me that 3 150 might do better because it is narrow. If i use the 3 150s i will probably make cooltubes out of hurricane lamps, the 600 would be a hydrofarm radiant.

1x600w puts out more lumens and has a higher PPF rating than 3x150w... as for your cool tube you could do this for the 600 watter.

i realize that a 600 puts out more light and has better lighting efficentcy, but it seems like a lot of light would be wasted on the walls in a 30" wide closet. Also it seems that with 3 points of light putting out less heat i could place the lights closer which could possibly make up some of the difference?

Do what you want but you need more than 3x150w and more than 1x600w with those dimensions. Heat becomes LESS of a factor with a cool tube. Just trying to point the way.

thank you for advice and thanks for the link on how to make the cooltube potlike. if anyone has any experience or can do the math, how much more would i potentially yield from a large cab (say a meter squared) with the 600w compared to the 3 150w in a closet thats 30x57. the height is standard roof height, about 8 feet.

you will probably be able to almost double your yield with a setup like 600w in a 3ftx3ft space as that is close to the lumenous output of the sun. Space the light 1 ft away from the canopy to optimize your yield.
