Hey RIU peeps hope all is well! I'm looking for some advise or opinions. If this was your grow op what would you do as far as defoliation? I've taken a few fans off here and there for light but am on the fence about what I should do. I believe they grow the leaves for a reason but I also believe you can help the plant by doing some defoliation im new to this so I don't want to harm them in any way. Just want some advise please. 10 gal. Dwc 2x white rhino and 1 Skywalker OG. Been about a week since flipping to flower started seeing pistols a couple days ago. 20201015_202217.jpg20201015_202244.jpg

Since you say your new, like me, leave as many as you can. If something goes wrong, or you have a pest problem, you could lose some leaves. Definitely want to have enough to finish the grow :blsmoke:

Have you got an upskirt shot? (asking for a friend)

You on your first grow also? Would like to see if so.

I know right, I was terrified when I topped my first plants to mainline. They were so beautiful and I just chopped them in half :eyesmoke: My very first grow got assaulted by spider mites, and i had already done so much defoliation, that once the spider mites took their share of leaves, there were none left for the buds. Now I take as little as possible, just enough for proper airflow. This grow ivery just been tucking leaves that are shading too much under them. Like you said, they grow them for a reason :blsmoke:

That looks awesome. How long did you veg ?

if i had any that needed pruning yet i would gladly oftaken some pix to show you, but im growing mother plants at the moment to get lones for the winter grow

Love your lights! Mind if I ask how much you got in just the lighting

Thanks!! I love them :bigjoint: For the 4 qb120's, 320 watt driver, 1x3s for the frame, rope and ratchet pulley, and plug for the driver, im probably around $250-$275. I believe when I got the qb's it was only $100 for (4). Now I think they are $120, but still a killer deal. I just added a 4' Solacure UV light about a month ago. It was about $120 shipped.

Your plant looks great. There is some simple defoliation you could start with-see how some of the big fan leaves are touching/covering your bud sites? Take a few of those off to start and see how you feel about it. It will really open up the bud sites to more light and ventilation, which you're going to need because you've got a lot of bud sites. I've seen some good defoliation tutorials with before/after pics somewhere online. Just go easy on it your first time, taking too little is always better than taking too much.

Thank you so much for your advice ill see if I can find a tutorial. See I dont even know for sure what a bud site is. I think I do but not 100%

I took some of the big fans off and I had to bend 2 tops over because they were growing to high to fast and that evened up the canopy some
