Aerogarden Germination Settings

Just put together my Pro200 and added three feminized Northern Lightrs seeds. I put the seeds into the included grow sponges. 1 seed in each sponge (although aerogarden mentions putting more than one into each sponge, is this right?). They have been in there for about 19 hours with light. I just killed the lights on it. My main question is how long should the lights be on during germination? Thanks in advance, the information is always helpful.

No light, keep them in the dark until they have Germinated, then go 20 hours on 4 hours off, some people even go 24 hours on for a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the info. Just turned the light out. They have been in light for about a day and a half. Is this going to be detrimental to germination? Also, I have set the AG to the tomato setting. I think in the future I will be germinating with a paper towel. Again thanks for the help and any tips will be greatly appreciated.

I have always had great success using the paper towel method. It seems to work well and is really easy. Good luck with your grow. I will be watching, I have just started mine about 2 weeks ago.

Well, I cut the lights off last night using the manual on/off switch. Just looked at them (6:00 AM) and the light is back on. I am not going to mess with it anymore and just use the standard 18/6 setting that the AG comes pre-programmed with. I figure rather than throwing off the light cycle anymore than I already have I am just going to keep it in a light routine. Also, it is in my closet which is not heated and is substantially cooler than my bedroom. Average temp. during the winter in there is about 60-65 degrees but it's Texas and it will warm up nicely here in the coming months. I still have seven Northern Lights feminized seeds if these don't germinate. Hoping that they do. Day 2 and a half without any seedlings. As always, any information is a blessing. If these babies germinate I will buy a digital camera and start a grow journal. Have I already traumatized these seeds too much through too much light and changing light cycles? Like I saidm I will be using the stock light timing.

All three seeda have begun germination. There is one that appears to be moving a little faster than the other two. Should the lights remain on the 18/6 setting or is it time to go to 24/0?

keep it at 24/0 for the first two weeks, then switch to 18/6, once you connect the lights to a fig 8 cord, all you need the settings f is for the pump
