Aerogarden (just started it up)

Hey, im new to this forum, new to growing period. I decided to get the Aerogarden because this is just for a few personal plants.

Please tell me if im doing something wrong here. Basically what I've done so far is set up the aerogarden. I got a gallon of purified water and added 1 tsp of fox farm grow big. I dont know how it is mixed so I just mixed it myself with a chop stick. I poured all that into the Aerogarden and put 1 seed in. I have no idea what strain it is. I used the pod of a mint because i got Gourmet Herbs as my kit. I took out all the seeds and cut the sponge in half and put my cannabis with the root pointing down in it. put the sponge back into the pod and planted it into the aerogarden with that plastic cap. I then turned on my Aerogarden and set my timer so that it turns off at 12 AM.

That basically all Ive done so far. This is my first time and im not going for a huge project so I wont be buying better lights.

Is what I've done so far ok anyone?

Thanks for looking at this and sorry if this question has been answered elsewhere. I looked at most of the threads and I think I did the right steps.

Drain the rez immediately. Replace with fresh purified water
and NO NUTES.

You must not feed too early or your seedlings will burn up.
You must get the nutes out of the solution.

After the sprout appears
and have grown the first true set of serated leaves,
then you should very carefully follow the nute mfg directions for seedlings.

If there is no direction for feeding seedlings,
then you should use a 1/4 strength amount(nute load)
for the first week
and then change out the soluton.
The next time feed 1/2 strength nute load.

You will find that the nute mfg recommend using a lot more product than you really need.
Nute Mfg base their nute loads predicated on the assumption that you are a professional grower
using state of the art Lights, and environmental controls in your green house.

Since you are not using the same equipment as a pro,
you will find that a 50% nute load will give you the best results,
and save money also.

Feeding plants more,
will not speed up the grow
or increase the yield.
It will burn your plant
and slow down growth
and reduce yield.

Keeping the pH in the 5.2-5.8 range
and insuring the rez has an adequate DO supply,
is more important than feeding nutes.

There is a lot of reading here,
but some pretty useful info:

Good luck, and show your grow.

Thank you for all your info, so what your saying is I should add in about 1/2 tsp of fox farm big grow a week later or after they sprout? what about the started nutrients that aerogarden provides, should I just not use those?

I put 3 seeds in my aerogarden, I germinated them and everything. 2 of them are, how do i say, going back into the seed!? and 1 is starting to get bigger ( the white initial root)

Whats happening?
