What's up RIU? Time for a new journal. This time I'm doing 3 Afgoo and 3 Lavender clones in 2g smart pots in a 3x3 tent. I may or may not do some training over the next couple weeks before I put them into bloom. We'll see how they come along. Not much else has changed since my last grow, same medium, same nutrients, same lights (for now...), etc.

The Medium: CANNA Coco
The Containers: 2g Smart Pots
The Lights: (1) Apache Tech AT120WR (3:2)
(1) Advanced LED XML 150
(1) Advanced LED 200W Diamond Series
The Nutrients:
For Veg: Canna Coco A & B, Rhizotonic, Cannazym, Great White, Superthrive, MagiCal, Silica Blast.
For Bloom: A & B, Rhizotonic, Cannazym, Great White, MagiCal, Silica Blast, Boost, PK13/14, MOAB.

The Plants:
Afgoo: Indica Dominant. Flowering Time = 8-9 weeks. Yield = ???. Genetics = Afghani Kush x Maui Haze. Not much info out there about this strain. So if anyone has any other info, please let me know.
Lavender: Sativa Dominant. Flowering Time = 8-9 weeks. Yield = Medium to Heavy. Genetics = Afghani Hawaiian x Big Skunk Korean x Super Skunk

That's all for now. I'll be doing weekly updates again and probably be flipping to 12/12 in about 2-3 weeks. Thanks for checking out my new grow. Hope you all stick around!

Fuck Yeah, Puff has a new journal! I bet he replaces all his panels with three new ones before this grow is done!

Seriously.... Looking forward to the grow, Puff. Only going with a three week veg? Is that your normal routine?

I don't know much about either strain, But I have seen Afgoo mentioned before either here or on GC or somewhere.

I found this for you as well: http://en.seedfinder.eu/strain-info/Afgooey/Clone_Only_Strains/ (Doesn't really tell us anything you didnt already but figured I'd link it)

Edit:
Just did a search for Afgoo and wow, puff. There is a shit ton of reviews regarding this strain. I think you're going to find everything you need to know regarding this strain quite easily.

And obviously.... SUBBED!

Yo, amaximus! Thanks for stopping in, glad to have you aboard again. Appreciate the link, not sure why my search results didn't find much on afgoo. I'll have to search some more. I'm really excited about this round. Lavender is a favorite strain of mine and it will be my first time growing it. I've had some afgoo/afgooey from collectives a while back and remember it was always some fire.

Haha, no plans (yet) for new lights, but you never know...

Yeah I'm thinking about a 3 week veg which is actually longer than my usual 10-14 day veg from clones. I'm wanting bigger sized girls this time around to fill up the 3x3. I may go 4 weeks if I start training some. Kind of just playing it by ear until they get to a good height and are nice and bushy.

Nice Puffenuff, enjoy your grow!! I am curious to know why you would not train them? (seems to be the way to go with LEDs) I have been using tiny bungee cords lately and it works liike a charm!! I want to get the velcro stuff soon too seems to work well on smart pots. I start training mine as soon as they can take it, I simply tilt them to get the lower branches to develop faster and hold the top down to help the rest catch up.

Thanks End! The only reason I may not do any training would be to start flowering sooner. I'm leaning toward doing some training though, I really want this round to be my best yet in terms of yield and I think veg time has played a big factor in my past results. This will definitely be my longest veg in some of my more recent grows. Hmm, velcro, I'll have to look into that. Last time I just used paperclips and string and it worked out ok. Thanks for the tip!

Yes I agree I hear if you start from clone you gotta veg longer for better results. I can't get over how big some of my plants get without vegging them, the same cannot be done from clone though, only your clones on day 1 are bigger than my plants after 30 days from seeds so it's hard to tell what is most effective. And yeah the Velcro is my next step as far as training goes it really seem to work well.

Cool, I'll have to check those out, thanks!

So here's the ratio of nutrients I fed with yesterday when transplanting them:

7ml of A & B
15ml Rhizotonic
1-2ml of Superthrive
A dash of Great White

I'll keep this feeding schedule for about 1-1.5 weeks. Then I'll introduce Cannazym and start lowering the Rhizotonic amounts. Then I'll start with MagiCal and Silicon Blast sometime about a week after that or sooner if needed. I'm going to try to do a better job this time around of letting everyone know when I change the nutrient levels.

Also want to get a pic of all the lights on at the same time, super bright up in the tent. Will post that up later. Need to do some rearranging on the lights to make them all fit how I want them.

Yeah, I learned my lesson when I tried that with the True Blueberries a couple rounds ago, and I noticed you had a similar issue with #1. As always, glad to have you along for the ride!

I am totally in on this grow... subbed and everything else I can do... I love to see successful use of LED tech... not many people know too much about LEDs.... and afgoo/afgooey is a VERY potent strain... I would suggest more veg time like 5-6 maybe 7 weeks to do some LST to really get them ladies to spread wide... I cant wait to see final result though!

What's up 509Zman! Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate the recommendation on the long veg time. Right now I'm shooting for about 3 weeks and then see where they are at. Of course I am tempted to let them get as big as possible before flowering, but I can't wait too long or I'll be harvesting next year sometime and I'm shooting for an early-mid December harvest.

Got the lights all arranged how I wanted them. Cords aren't dangling down anymore. Right now, I'm just using the XML and not even on full blast. I wanted them to get acclimated to the leds before going full power. Tomorrow I'll increase the XML to full power, then a couple days after that I'll put the Diamond Series on veg mode for a day, then put it on full spectrum. Then, I'll finish up veg and start bloom by turning on the apache. That's the plan at least, I might just hit them with everything I got after a week or so of veg.

First pic shows all three panels in place, but only the XML turned on. The second pic shows all three lights on at full power. With all three lights on at full power, it's just under 500W @ 485W.

My air quality monitor should be here sometime tomorrow, I got this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Indoor-Air-Quality-Meter-Temperature/dp/B001PDGFR8/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1348179372&sr=1-1&keywords=indoor+air+quality+meter

I plan on testing out some exhale c02 bags. I've heard mixed reviews on them, so it's more for product knowledge than anything, the added co2 would just be a bonus. If they don't work, I'll try to rig up a diy setup.

Then I just need to get my inline fan / filter up and running and I'll be a happy camper.

Ahhh I love a bit of cable foo :-D

Have you considered brewing something for the CO2? I have a pipe dream of brewing Mead because it is utterly delicious and to be frank if a viking can brew it in a grubby mead hall then I sure as hell can! The most significant thing is that this will bubble CO2 for a full 8 or 9 weeks! The process is about the simplest I have seen for a brewed product, it's completely natural, can be organic if you wish and you get delicious honey based alcohol when you're done getting CO2 for your plants. Mead is delicious.

I actually like mead too so thanks for that video, Jah! If I end up doing a diy co2 rig, I'll definitely consider this.

Thanks for stopping by and subbing up, ILP. Always a pleasure to read your comments. Strain envy is a sickness that plagues tons of people daily. Fortunately, there are journals like mine that help those suffering by allowing them to live vicariously through our grows. For those with more severe cases, they can reach out to one of the many online seed banks and seek treatment there.

^^^ I love the nutrient specifics. As I've mentioned before I'm preparing for a coco grow. I'm not sure what else I'll be supplementing with but I know A&B, Rhizo, Cal-Mag & Silica Blast will be part of my regimen. If it isn't too much to ask I'd appreciate it if you posted what your using and how much throughout your grow? Or if you'd rather not clutter the thread with that maybe PM me? Maybe after I have it all it'll be self explanatory but until then I'd like to gather as much info as I can and try to plan a nutrient schedule before hand. Also... Do you add everything together with your water and then ph?

^^^ Very impressive, puff. Almost 500 full watts of led power. Yeah, You're pretty much the man right now. I've heard good things regarding those co2 bags. I believe the Exhale bag is the one most used. Maybe next summer I'll pick one up and give it a whirl. Other than the haters the only real problem I've heard about the bag is that they're pretty much active when purchased and combine that with the six month life expectancy of the product there is no way to tell exactly how much is left upon purchase...

Prepping for a coco grow, huh? I think you'll like it, it's really easy to grow in. You have a good start with what you listed. THe only thing I would add would be some other kind of enzymes to compliment the rhizo, like cannazym. It's very affordable and they work great together. Then of course you'll need some flowering supplements, but that there will get you through veg with some beautiful plants. Yeah for sure, I have no problem posting what I'm using and how much at different stages of growth. So the last post where I mentioned that, it was for pretreating the coco prior to transplanting them. I just pour a little bit of nutrient mix over the top of the pots and then work with my hands to evenly spread the food throughout the pot. Not too wet though, you don't want to overfeed them right off the bat, just where the end of the rockwool is and little below.

Yes, I balance the PH after mixing everything in the water. I shoot for 5.2-5.8 PH. When I'm adding the stuff to my 1g water jugs, I shake everything well before pouring and then shake the jug after pouring each one into it. Starting with A...shake...pour...shake jug...B...repeat...Rhizo...repeat...cannazym...repeat...calmag...repeat...silica blast...repeat...and so forth. Hit me up with any other questions you can think of, I really don't mind at all.

I basically follow the canna calculator on their website with a few small changes in terms of dosages and at what weeks. I'll try to get create a spreadsheet later this weekend.

Thanks for the info on the co2 bags, some of the bad reviews I read online were that they don't really raise the co2 levels that much. So we'll see, I've been wanting to try them out for a while and since I got my new meter...why not? If they don't work, I'll figure something else out.

If you catch the bags before the mushroom has "root bound" the coco brick, then you can throw it in a big 30 gallon bin with: 5gallons of trimmed leaves, 5 gallons of root material/finely ground stalks, 5gallons of kitchen compost, 6gallons of old soil, 2 gallons of coco/peatmoss, and 1 gallon of rice/bean/old pantry starch flour. Blend this mixture thoroughly and water once weekly with 2 solo cups of water.
After two water sessions the bed will be prepped and you don't have to buy the mushroom bag. The mycorrhizae in the old soil will be enough. Especially if you follow the super soil method.Anyway this mixture, along with an inoculation of the soil, was kept in at thirty gallon tube that had a ducting with a 15 watt fan sucking air out of a hole in the lid.

My yields got above 1gram/watt with this and combining spectra/changing spectra at certain stages of flowering. There are a lot of ways to bring CO2 into your room. If you own a home, or are a long term renter, than there is no problem with this. I plan on doing this when I get back home, and finally finishing that god damned prototype.

^The first picture shows my sea of green style with my Durban X AutoJacks, she was photoperiod grown into single colas or three colas if she vegged long enough, she produced between 16-20grams/.7gallons of soil. I used armies of clones to grow in old milk jugs, they were dark dark times indeed. All of these pictures were taken a couple years back when I was just a major lurker. Funny how things come and go in a cycle like that. Fucking lolipopping man.

I still need to do more research as I'm still a little bit away from this grow so I've been slow to look things up but ask questions as they become relevant. The Canna Calculator. I totally forgot about that. Yeah, That is suggesting adding Cannazym, Canna Boost as well as PK 13/14. The Cannazym is cheap enough as you mentioned, I'll add that. The PK 13/14 is cheap as well. The Canna Boost is where is gets a bit more pricey but that looks to be the main flowering supplement...? Shit, It looks to be like $80+ for a liter? Whoa. I cannot get through flowering without it though, correct? Is there another alternative?

Ok. So pretty much the way I mix my nutes anyway. It was a bit of a moronic question but had to be asked. I've assumed too much in the past to not ask questions now. lol.

Yeah, You're right. I do remember there being some reviews regarding co2 lvls and how much they are raised. If I remember correctly if you have the correct size tent and/or enough bags they work, But if not they don't raise the levels enough? I'll have to look into that further. I've been eyeing those bags for quite some time now.

Ok, I think that is it for now. I'm going to go check out that calculator a bit further and do some more research so later when I bother you my questions will at least reflect that of someone that has done at least the most rudimentary research first. lol.

Again puff, Thanks, I appreciate your help.

PS - I'd appreciate that spreadsheet but don't go crazy. If your going to post the nutrients your using throughout this grow I'll just copy them as you progress.
