After 2yrs of saying Im finally doing

I finally decided to buy a single dwc kit and I still have some lights, fans, and cords from the last grow I did sometime 2-3 years ago. Ive been checking out alot of various threads and forums over the years and Im confident enough to take on something of this measure.

So far I have:
2 CFL
2 small fans
Figure 8 strip
other small exstension cords

Im going to build a cabinet for my closet big enough to put a nice size cooling chamber for the rez. Im still debating if I should weld up a frame and add wood or do a straight wood box depending on the amount of material I have laying around outside, Im leaning towards the metal frame for weight issues and mobility.

I ordered Stealth Hydro's 5 gallon DWC single kit and Im starting to order some of the other things I need but I had a couple of questions.
Do I need a ph meter and a ppm meter? If so Im looking into getting this little bundle deal http://www.amazon.com/HM-Digital-TDS-EZ-Tester-Purity/dp/B002C0A7ZY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1326658633&sr=8-2

Im torn between using sensi bloom or fox farm nutes? Anyone know whats good for a beginner? Do I start with nutes the first day and when do I stop? Do I have to flush too at the end? and whens that start?

Im sure Im going to have more questions and such later and I hope everything goes good and hope to hear some good input from alot of og's.

I know Im forgetting something I need to get me a new timer.

This is what I came up with today I was pretty stoned and it took a long while and I was having trouble with the nail guns. It came out bigger then what I thought it would be but overall Im happy with the out come.

Measurements:
39 1/2 X 52 X 60 Outside
39 1/2 X 52 X 50 1/4 Inside

I left some room on the bottom for the plugs, wires, pumps, and ventilation. Now Im debating whether I should use plywood or a sheet of metal on the floor on figuring that would help keep the water temps down, any input would be great on everything.

I have the stealth hydros oxyponic set.. only used it once though & now im in soil.

Any specific reasons for going back into soil?

I started in the hydro set.. then went to soil brand new to it. I now like soil mainly because it is addicting, I am learning a lot on exactly how simple it can be to grow a plant organically.. making a potent soil with organic blend of materials, then after letting it sit for a while simply add water. no need to ph if you go 100% organic(supposedly) <3


the dwc oxyponic set mind you, the plants grew fasst, 4x 5ft plant under my 600w. I got about 12oz, but harvested too soon. I think if I had waited 2-3wks I would have had around 16.

Another reason I stick with soil right now is, if a power outage..no bubbles. Soil, I can move outside easier if its a sunny day.

Oh I see, gotcha. Im not too worried about power outages too much, power hardly goes out but Im thinking of investing in a backup/surge protector just in case something happens while Im at work.

What are you growing? What did you grow during the dwc project?

Im going with a Chem Dawg clone this grow.

Hyperenergy: considering the cost of good wood and what it'll cost you to put a safe finish on it have you considered a tent? A 2' by 4' by 6 1/2' tent might be a less expensive and a quicker solution unless you're a professional carpenter.

I have to agree with you about soil. It may not be as versatile and quick as hydro but it's much more forgiving. Just don't discount pH because if it's way off it can lock out your nutes just like in hydro. Just not as fast. HSA

I have wood laying around and have access to plenty of wood/metal materials around and Im handy with power tools and machines. But I forgot to look at the measurements of the door and I realized it wasnt even going to fit in the door lol, now I have to make it a bit smaller but its still going to be long for the lights.
