Agromax RAW 550

I’m not on the market for anything in this category, but just discovered the Agromax “RAW 550” fixture. It’s a direct clone of HLG’s 550- same layout, LEDs, bigger power supply maybe but otherwise almost a direct clone for $100 bucks less. I understand copying some aspects of a competitor product but doing so to capitalize on what I perceive to be a successful product in the market without offering anything innovative or different except the price point seems pretty scummy. I mean they even call it a “550”.

The HLG remains a better looking product and with the latest iteration have added some reds without increasing the price.

It's not scummy to charge less... what's scummy is maintaining a overpriced status quo. The LED market needs the prices to drop

It's not scummy to charge less, what's scummy is making a direct copy of someone else's product and slapping your name on it.
They have not patented their QB's and for this reason you see more and more other designs or even boards with exactly the same design. It's really expensive to get your own stuff patented. Even Sammys dual row F-strips are copied.. That seems to be normal...
Fake QB's with some deepreds exsist since a year or so but they have used cheap 5630 deepreds, no LM351c.

HLG QB's probably still use a better bin as other brands boards cuz they get them directly from Samsung. Who knows which borads you get with such an Agromax fixture? Maybe they simply use cheap chinese copy cats with mediocre bins like the boards from Meizu, R2T or so?

It's not even hlgs product. They assembled other peoples products and charge a price for doing so. Somebody else doing the same thing for a fairer price is called business.
The whole hlg-550 is our product. Where do you think QBs came from? Geez do a little research before posting. Every single aspect of the HLG-550 is our design........ HTG/Agromax used to carry our products. We terminated that relationship when we learned they where coping our product. We offered a great margin to them and they got greedy. If you want to support a company with those type of practices that's on you. Besides you can find the HLG-550 for less all over the web. MSRP is that suggested......

So somebody offers competition to a price you admit is well above what it needs to be, for a product that is very similar. Nuff said.

This is America, pretty sure healthy competition is what drives our market.

Easy to do when you just RIP off someone else's work. It's called intellectual property. Google it sometime.

50% of the iPhones cost of production is in R&D. Do you think any product made didn't cost to develop?

Have you ever had anything important to YOU, stolen from YOU? (and reproduced by an arsewipe in China)

Was a bloke in China who made a food product out of recycled cardboard.
I reckon you would enjoy a good feed of that.
His family were made to pay for the bullet

Ok so what are you gonna do from here? Gonna sue em? Gonna provide more competative pricing? Gonna cry and whine?

I have clearly shown I believe that is something that led manufacturers need to deal with, the price is too high and so you adapt or die.

The price is not too high, genuine HLG QB`s are actually really good value.

If I was to sell the end product from the very 1st grow cycle using them,
50% would have covered the cost of the lights

No shit lol. That doesnt mean they arnt overpriced. Clearly another company figured out how to offer them for 100$ less. Even stephen admitted his product was overpriced. What else can you need for evidence then the guy making them saying they cost too much?
