There's treachery afoot
My girls just turned over 31 days flowering and my damn furnace motor went out. Had it fixed yesterday and had to keep the kids holed up in the cedar closet until the cost was clear. Shitty part is, furnace is now having another issue (four year old Rheem....ain't planned obsolecense wonderful) and the HVAC guys are due back in a couple of hours. Question I am having is this. Girls are in a closet with three lamps just to provide some sort of light. They will be away from the 400 watt HPS for roughly six of the 12 hours of the daily light cycle. Yesterday they were away from the light for seven hours. So, do I put them back under the light for the remainder of the 12 hour cycle, or do I leave them in total darkness for the time they are away from the light and then give them a full 12 hours? How much trouble will this cause...if any??? Guessing they have about 14 to 20 days left before harvesting. Heeeelllllllpppppppppp!

don't start messing with the light cycle...

just keep some kind of light on them as much as you can, other than incandescent. if you have any cfl's or tubes use them as much as you can. If i understand correctly you have to move the plants cause thtat is where the hvac guy is gonna be working???

but give them 12 hours a day and try to be as precise as possible. it's never happened to me but I've heard that minor fluctuations to the light schedule can cause plants to hermie.

Shit... I would be more worried about the smell!

As Quad said above... just keep some form of light on them, but dont change their light cycle. They should be fine though. They might shock out slightly, but it probably wont even be enough for you to notice.

Just be careful with the delivery men! Either make sure they dont smell anything or smoke em out! :-) I cant smell shit in my house anymore, but when Im in the middle of flowering and a friend stops by they can smell it as soon as they take a few steps into the house... Get some nice fruity candles and/or some air fresheners.

Ohh... Cleaning supplies work well also at masking the odor... 409 type stuff...Pine-Sol... You get the idea.

Good luck.

Actually I have the smell well concealed. I have about 6 bad air sponges about the house, two candles going on the main floor and ribs cooking away in the slow cooker. As an added precaution, I mopped all the basement floors down with Mr. Clean and my neighbor came by to verify my sucess in neutralizing the air. I grow in a modified wardrobe cabinet from Lowes that is vented to my chimney with a bathroom vent van. My house gets a little smell to it the last week but usually not a problem...less I go carrying the girls around the house. Good thing is, the furnace is in the basement and the QT closet is on the second floor on the other side of the house in the finished attic. Furnace guys smoke from time to time but don't want to give them any indication of my little hobby.

Well then. Sounds like you have that under control. :-)

You have advice on the lighting situation, so I think you're all set.

Thanx again for all the advice. I have been babying the girls like crazy and they have done very well. Would hate everything (hermies...noooooooo) to go to shit the last couple of weeks. Not really sure what they are. Ends of the leaves have a dark purple cast to them...small leaves right around the buds do as well. A friend who has been smoking bout 30 years passed them on to me and told me they were a strain grown hydo in S. Illinois called Black Forest....never heard of it but grows like a champ. Cloned a few for good measure as everything I planted ended up female so there are a few good mommy types in the bunch. So cross your fingers....valentines day plant massacre goes on as scheduled.:hump:
