Just a quick question can I suck cool air from the basement through my hood and out the attic?

Yes you can, but be mindful venting humid air into your attic can lead to mold growth. Running a dehumidifier in your basement should help, also make sure you attic is properly vented, which will help remove moist air. Try it, and check your attic with a hygrometer, if relative humidity is 80 or above, your likely to grow mold. Btw i vent into my attic, no problems in several years.
