Air cooled reflector and UVB

Thinking about removing the glass in my reflector to get more UVB. It’s a blockbuster 6in not sure if I can remove the glass. I’ve read that glass blocks all of UVB. UVB is important to plants. Has anyone removed their glass from reflector? Did it make any difference in temperature

UV is more important during flowering for THC/Terpene production.

HPS is better for flowering than MH even though it lacks UV.

I would either flower with CMH, add supplemental UV with HPS, or flower with HPS and switch to MH for the last few weeks.

You can supplement UV with an Agromax Pure UV T5 bulb. Under $50 and will cover a 4x4 area at 48” above canopy.

why do you say HPS is better for flower? Ed Rosenthal claims UVB increases THC not sure if he’s correct or not

UV does increase THC/terpenes but the spectrum of an MH will reduce yield compared to an HPS. That is why CMH is the best of both worlds when it comes to HID’s.

HPS + supplemental UV is a great option considering you can add a UV T5 bulb/fixture for under $50 that puts out way more UV than a MH.
