Air Pots advice

Hey guys! First grow here, and just switched to 1 gal air pots. Plants are taking very well! My one question is, does the extra air flow dramatically increase my watering needs? I was watering once every few days, but these pots dr your so fast I almost need to water daily!? Is this normal? I know as a new grower I know I am prone to over water so it makes me nervous!

Is is watering daily ok? Maybe I wasn't watering enough before and that's why they dry out? Any tips with these pots are appreciated!

yes you have to feed daily as they airate much better,

also u will find making a well round your stalk in the middle and feed slowley will also stop water shottinig outa the sides
OR
go gangsta and put sum ladies tights round the pots therby NO leakage at all,

that is all.

There is no "normal" in gardening, too many variables from one grow to the next. You grow lights, fans, temps, strains, soil, how you water, how much you water, all affect how often you water.

Just check the container and if it's dry water it thoroughly. I water air pots slowly in a spiral application starting from the outside working in.

This seems to keep the water from dripping out the sides of the container. When I see water coming coming out the bottom, I know it's had enough.

Btw, my last grow at around 5 weeks I was watering my pots every 5 days. My LEDs produce no heat and the plants required less water.

Finally, if in doubt, don't water it.

Good Luck on your first grow.

Yeap temp is around 80, and humidity is 50. With two 6 inch fans. A slow fan for and intake with 4 in outtake fan with filter. Growing with the California light works ss400! I have a good idea of the dry weight so I'm just going with that. When I hit that weight - plant weight! Time for her to drink!

I have done done tons of research, and I am afraid all of the over watering stories I hear. With the tentativeness I had with watering, I am banking I haven't watered them enough (when I water them) and I think that's why they might be slow growth, I'm not giving enough water to have the roots to chase lower growth! Thanks guys as always!

Yeah, you got it. Water slow and saturate the soil to the bottom of the container. Roots don't go where there's no moisture.

I use Geopots with Velcro seams now. They are easy to transplant and fold flat for storage. I run 1, 3, and 5 gal sizes.

and ther u have it branded pillow cases as pots, may asw ell use teh cheapo ones,

and ignore all the who wont asnwer due to variables ect. just water as they need it, simples,

your basic answr is yes they do dry out faster

and yes u can oevrwater airpots if u use soil as u can with soil in any pot

I wasn't being an ass, thought maybe English was not a first language. See that a lot around here.

Branded pillow case was the only thing I picked up.

I understand, a Geopot costs $3.25, not really going to break the bank for my small grow. My pillow cases cost more, decision made.

On my 2nd airpot grow. First time I maintained perfect humidity in a small space and they didn't seem to dry out very fast at all. Had several different grow mediums and sized plants all in 3 gal airpots and they all differed on how well they took water and compacted and all that.

This time I have them all filled with a TGA SS and a layer of TGA base, and in a low humidity environment that is difficult to control. Just watering the 6 pots raises the RH in the grow room by 10-30% over the following day or so. And the pots are drying out very quickly, watering pretty small plants every 2-3 days right now, Last time they were 10 times this size before needing it that often.

I def recommend something that drains well and has a good percentage of perlite. I had one pot that basically turned to cement and was such a pain to water, sometimes I'd have to manually dry it out with a small forced air heater.

Another thing I think about a lot is the whole wet/dry cycle stuff. Which the more I think about it makes very little sense. I've read both sides of the argument and it just seems like a way to keep noobs from grossly overwatering. If you pay close attention you should have no trouble keeping your soil moist but not TOO moist. To me, "overwatering" means pouring that shit into the soil too quickly. I smoothly give my 3 gal air pots up to 1 liter at a time, wait an hour, then up to 1 more liter until they start heavily running out the bottom.

no overwatering is feedig day after day after day, shit builds up and ud end upwith lockout.

if your humidy goes UP then just hand a dry towel, if it goes down hang a wet towel,

simplistik methods often work out best like.

OP if you wanna water less just use sissors and cut the grow bags off and plant them in a larger container of dirt. Hell, you could make a full raised bed style and run dtw off it. Thatll give you a day of rest;)

No, over watering has nothing to do with feeding. And lock out from shit building up can be prevented by not letting plants reabsorb nutes leached out.

i love my air pots, i suspend them by the handles and have my intake pulling right under them

things that help with drought tolerance are silica, medium type, and heat control

a good root system will hold in the moisture well, if you're worried about watering just go into really big pots.

I use 15 gallon pots, check out my thread @ nizzas 3x 15 gal big bud grow

Well considering the sides are wide open to air out yeah it makes sense that they would dry out.

I just got done with my first grow using 3 gallon airpots with Promix HP and I had to water/feed about every 4 or 5 days. With four 3 gallon pots I used 5 gallons of water every time i fed. That gave me a decent amount of runoff.
