Air Pots = Best pot for soil

Currently have 4 (tangerine dream, NYPDiesel, white widow, and freeze cheese) in 8 gallon airpots under 1000 watt. Spending 130$ on pots may be a little ridicolus but hopefully it will pay off in the end.

Air root pruning pots have been mentioned here many times. But some people believe they do not work, are gimmicks, are not worth the price and cannot or will not pay what they cost, so air root pruning pots are not a hot topic here and tend to not get a large number of responses when mentioned.

I dont use soil I grow with coco chips in my air pots but I thought about this.. They come with a plastic drainage disc thing but if you use soil or coco coir I'm sure medium will still get through so I thought to myself, if I had to I could put a panty hose underneath the pot...
 
I just put a black 30 gal trash bag under each pot. Once soil gets wet and packed it don't really fall out as much
 
i seen them im pretty excited to use them on my next grow right now im using ten gallon buckets. i heard you can get away using a 5 gallon air for a big plant. i seen them for the first time about a month ago pretty cool looking
 
i didnt read the whole post but regular window screen? i think thatsa really good idea but will the metal leach out into the soil?
also ik this is old but i cant find info anywhere i been to icmag, grasscity, here google icant find sheit. pleas and thanku:bigjoint:
 
I think they are a great idea- but are not available everywhere- and for many folks- shipping isn't an option... otherwise, I'd be using em! ;)

We use 3 different brands of "smart-pots" the originals, an 'off brand" and new ones made of heavy canvas... so far -love em all--- I say so far because we are just now finishing-up our last grow in 10 gallon plastic nursery pots-- the next grow is in the different Smart-pots and only a couple weeks in 12/12 -- the buds on those are almost 1/2 the size of the buds on week 6 plants in plastic planters!!!

If the new Air Pots work even better- and had they been available- again- I'd definitely try them!

I water my plants every other day because the airpots don't hold as much moisture. They are virtually impossible to overwater, and if you add geohumus to your soil that will help you retain more moisture (if desired).

They make small sizes too. This is a .8 gallon and a 2.0 gallon with chocolope clones that are 12-12 after 1 week of veg (for shits and giggles)

You can buy a 7 gallon airpot if you wanna do a tree. One thing for certain is once you try them you wont go back to normal pots.

been seeing alot of these, but haven't tried them yet. MIght try one as an experiment on next transplant. I usually just drill a bunch of holes into the sides of my nursery pots with a 1/4" to 1/2" drill bit. Obviously, not as many holes as the air pot but same idea.
 
I have been using cloth smart pots for a while now and will use them only now. I dont care for root pruning. Its about ability to get more oxygen to the roots zone and the soil dryi g o u t fas t so i can water and feed more often.
 
I like the black plastic 5 gallon pots with holes on the bottom. My plants grow like smeared gorrilla shit when in fabric pots, haven't tried these airpots yet though. How would they compare to fabric and plastic pots?

I just had two plants block up the holes in those black plastic pots with their roots - probably due to the Kangaroots i used and they would not drain...had to finally pull em out and put in fabric sacks....
