Air Pruning pots vs regular

Hello,

Recently i started growing indoors in a tent.
First started with the lights, wich are samsung strip, then fans, nutrients.

Now i want to optimize things, and if read alot about Air pruning pots.
Im growing in soil right now.

Is it worth it? Do plants grow quicker in comparison to regular normal pots?

Couldn't really find a clear answer on this.

Lateral roots in a regular pot will reach the bucket then circle the bucket until harvest. All of the circling root is useless because we provide the plant with everything it needs inside the volume of the bucket.

With root pruning pots the root growth tip dies when it either strangles itself in the fabric or die because of dry soil. When the root tip dies the remaining roots bulk up with sugars and the lateral root buds a secondary lateral.

When the secondary lateral root growth tip reaches the root pruning pot it as well dies and buds roots of its own.

.

So with regular pots the root circles the bucket like a hose; with root pruning pots new roots are grown within the pot.

.

I'm not nearly high enough for an explanation like that! ;)

Sounded pretty damn good to me lol

Thanks, that sounds clear to me.
But what is your experience in growth rate? does this plant with more roots grow faster?

I know the theory , but would like to hear how people experience this.

Over the past 18 months of using regular then fabric pots I've seen my harvest increase from 600 grams to 875 grams 5 grows later.

A lot of this has to do with fabric pots vs plastic buckets. In a 5 gallon plastic bucket I could only water 1 gallon at a time before run off. In 7 gallon fabric pots I water 2 gallons and get 1/4 gallon run off.

I believe this is because there are more roots in the centre of the root ball.

I don't know about faster or better weed but the the root system has a massive increase in roots.

My old root balls feel like a giant root riot plug as in it firm and won't fall apart, i put lids on my pots so the roots grow up the way aswell, it's not the typical pyramid shape the whole 2.5 gallon? (10ltr) is a solid root ball top to bottom.
Some old ones I've not had the chance to dispose of. _20200902_133305.JPG
I would almost bet that root ball would take my weight without falling apart.
I expect material pots to be similar but I thought with them not being water tight they would affect the %rh, hence the lids on my pots I don't want wet coco exposed to the environment, two reasons humidity and salt build up created by the top dying out after each feed/water.

I noticed that your root ball is particularly dense.

What do you do, just cover your pot after watering to keep it moist?

I've got a photo up somewhere, I'll find it.

Anyway... I've made a little 1.5 gallon feed bucket with a stop cock that feeds of the main barrel, i keep the feed bucket in the tent with a pump, manifold and 4mm tube running to each pot, so once they're in situation I don't have to ever actually remove or touch anything it's run by a timer.

The photo will give you a better idea, a pictures worth a thousand words, post #2.
You can see my feed bucket set up bottom right with the scissors on it.
The lids are panda plastic or black and white plastic, I've put a cut from the centre and made a star cut in the middle to accommodate the stem growth.
If you want a closer photo I'll take one when the lights are on thumbs.
