Air pump AND water pump in DWC?

Anybody got an opinion on how important a water pump is to deliver the nutes to the net pots in a bubbleponics system? I'm planning a tote system like this: http://www.StealthHydroponics.com/product.php?xProd=2&xSec=2

They include an air pump for bubbles and water pump in their system to the center of each net pot. Is that water pump is really necessary once the roots grow down into the nutes solution? Obviously a water pump would be needed if you had a remote res.

Short answer: no.

Long answer: the pump will help in the beginning. It will speed the seedling process along quite nicely. However this isn't required nor recommended and it's just going to help with water circulation/nute mixing more than anything later on in the grow. Basically, it's a pain in the ass I'd avoid if I were you that only gives minuscule benefits in the latter stages of growth.

i was growing in some DIY aero system i made in totes. I used an air pump and a water pump with 360 ez-cloner sprayers heads on a timer. Worked well.

Ya, no water pump... And make your own! I made one exactly like that for under $50. I don't use it though as it annoyed me when it came time to change water. I just use buckets now.

Absolutely no point in a water pump! An air pump is all that's needed... make sure its a powerful air pump so you get Fuck-loads of bubbles air stones are great.. but if you can get the difusers that you find in Marine fish tanks the results will be even greater :) and you will get some amazing results providing you use quality fem seeds, PH balanced water and good quality nuits... and of course a suitable light source.

But as far as water pumps go ..... completely unnecessary - STELTHY :leaf:
