Aleafia Health reported a theft of its pot over the weekend. The Toronto-based cannabis firm said a vehicle belonging to a third-party carrier that’d been hired to haul recreational products to wholesale facilities was stolen. Aleafia says all relevant authorities have been notified and that the shipment’s value isn’t material. But it certainly raises important questions about safeguarding the country’s adult-use pot. Who’s shipping the stuff? What kind of insurance policies are available to producers? We’ll look into that.

That is the odd part. Makes me think they got paid for it either by slinging it black market for more money despite perhaps having pesticides and/or maybe it was insured?

Truck full of cannabis stolen
A truck carrying a Toronto company’s cannabis shipment was stolen from an unnamed carrier’s facility.


Aleafia Health said it learned the theft happened on Dec. 20 after receiving notice from the carrier.


Aleafia did not disclose the value of the shipment. Though cannabis is a particularly valuable target, cargo theft is a huge problem in Canada.

What a shame it will be represented as BM weed when it gets sold. Maybe it will be used as animal bedding.

I think there may be a business idea here.. I can see the pitch now.. "Billy Mays here!, want your lp to be profitable? Cant sell enough of that shwag? well hire us and we will fake highjack your weed shipments for you! No need to actually put anything in the truck, just empty boxes. Collect insurance and pad that bottom line! The path to profitability and higher stock prices is closer than ever!"

These fuckers have been selling empty boxes for months and people are still buying unknowingly of course lol but sounds about the same deal
