algae help :'(

hey this is my first time growing in general and i chosen to try hydroponic :). just ran into my first problem today i started smelling a weird smell past 2 days so just a min ago i dumped my water and there was algae built up on the side of the system and on the hoses a bit. how can i prevent algae? and also i had to take almost alot of it apart will my plants be okay? i didnt have any water on them or light on them for about 5mins but everythings back to normal again i have been growing them for exactly 6 days now.:sad:

okay thank you and that makes sense iv only planted 2 seeds to start out with so if i fuck up ill learn from my mistakes and from that i have 4 extra open holes that my light is beeming threw to my water so that makes sense. and sorry no pics :( lost my usb to my camera only been taking pics on my phone but my phone is a piece of shit.

not only light but warm water (above 72*)will also help promote algae, cover the open holes & try to keep temps roughly 66 to 70 at most. Warm will grow a bit faster but you've already seen the consequences, add a few days with the cooler water but avoid the resulting headaches...my .2 worth
